グローバル人材育成補助事業の一環として、2013年秋、従来の言語異文化学修センター（LDIC）及び学 修達成センター（AAC）に加え、アカデミック・キャリア支援センター（ACSC）を開設、これら３つのセ ンターを総称し能動的学修支援センターとして図書館棟2階に開所しました。能動的学修支援センターでは、
学生の主体的かつ能動的学修意欲を高め支援するための様々な取組みを実施します。
能動的学修支援センター（ALSC）は本学において学修支援を行う主たる施設です。在学生に対し、学業 に関するワークショップ、個別指導、個別相談、各種イベント等、自律学習及び自己達成感を涵養するため に幅広い支援を提供します。これらの支援に加え、学生達は多様な形態の学習教材から選び主体的に学習を 進めることができます。能動的学修支援センターは、センター長、LDIC、AAC、ACSCを担当するコーデ ィネーター、センターを管理する職員数名と学生スタッフで運営されます。

11-1-1. 理念
言語異文化学修センター(LDIC)は、学生が自主的に個々の学び方に最も適した形で学修するために、以下 の環境を提供することを目的とします。a) 異文化を楽しく積極的に学べる場、b) 自律学修のための教材と 施設、c) 学生同士が学び合う場、そしてd) 学業において求められる能力の専門的指導。LDICには、主に外 国語およびコミュニケーション能力の向上のために支援を行いますが、ここで提供される自律学修の機会は、
外国語、コミュニケーション力の修得にとどまらず、リベラル・アーツの広い学問分野にも役立ちます。

※1 Multi-purpose Room may be used by a group of more than 3 people except for a Conversation Partner session.
※2 Maximum time of use is 90 minutes; however it may be extended by 60-minute only one time when there is no other reservation.
11-1-5. Course Support 1. EAP classes
As a part of EAP classes, EAP students do self-study for designated hours in the LDIC. The LDIC records students study time, helps students find and choose learning materials and assists in using them. At the request of teachers, learning materials may be reserved for a class at the counter.
＊ The LDIC also coordinates AIU's license with English Central and Grammarly, the advanced English writing tool. Please contact the LDIC for datails.
2. Foreign language practice courses
LDIC also supports foreign language practice courses helping students find and choose learning materials, use equipment and facilities and manage their study time. At the request of teachers, learning materials may be reserved for class work at the front counter.

Equipped with a PC with internet connection, Skype, region-free DVD player, white board and access to the BBC World satellite channel.
Rooms 4 and 5 may be combined for a larger group.

1. Purchase of Resources
If there is any learning material you would like the LDIC to have, please put a request card in the Request Box or request at the counter or by email.
2. Lending of Equipment
The following equipment may be lent out of the LDIC for academic activities by prior arrangement.
Lending period is two days. Please consult at the counter or by E-mail.

11-1-9. Workshops and Events
The LDIC offers various events and services to assist students in learning more effectively and developing their language and communication skills.
1. Key Skills Workshops
Key skills workshops are workshops, led by AIU faculty members, that focus on key academic and study skills, such as vocabulary learning or presentation skills. Workshops are held periodically through the spring and fall semesters. All members of the AIU community are welcome.
2. Foreign Language Conversation Partners (FLCP)
Using the Foreign Language Conversation Partners service, members of the AIU community can book private foreign conversation practice sessions with fluent speakers of several languages, including, but not limited to, English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Spanish and French.
Conversation Partners are volunteer international and JLT graduate students. Appointments can be made online, throughout the year.
3. Peer-Learning Circles
The LDIC facilitates and supports peer-learning circles in a number of subject areas.
4. Guest Speakers
The LDIC invites guest speakers to hold workshops and lectures about learning and communication skills, once or twice a year. Recent topics have included presentation skills and debating skills for the real world, and Critical Media Literacy.

11-2-1. Mission
We are an independent, student-oriented learning community at AIU. Our goal is to support students in their efforts to develop their academic skills and realize their potential for self-directed learning. We believe our greatest resource is our students: When tutors support and challenge their peers in an atmosphere of mutual respect and caring, we all benefit.
11-2-2. Services
The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) supports students in their academic endeavours through peer mentoring services. Tutors, who are also students, offer guidance based on their own success as a student in order to allow tutees to exercise their academic ability to its maximum potential. The following services are offered by peer tutors in the AAC:

11-1-9. ワークショップ・イベント 1. キースキルズ・ワークショップ
キースキルズ・ワークショップは、語彙力、プレゼンテーション、批判的思考法など学業で必要なスキル を強化する分野をテーマに、本学の教員により各学期実施されます。 学生だけではなく教職員も参加が可能 です。
2. 外国語会話パートナー
外国語会話パートナーは、外国語を学修する学生、教職員のために、ボランティアの留学生および日本語 教育実践領域の大学院生が提供する１対１の会話サポートです。英語、中国語、ロシア語、フランス語、ス ペイン語他、様々な言語について、ボランティアの学生達がLDIC内で会話のサポートを行います。利用に はオンラインで事前の申し込みが必要です。学期のはじめにメール等で案内します。
3. 学生主導の学修活動
LDICでは様々な分野について学生同士が自主的に学べる活動を実施します。
4. ゲストスピーカー
外部講師を招き、プレゼンテーション、ディベート、メディアリテラシーなど実践に役立つスキルを学ぶ ワークショップ、講演会を開催します。

11-2-1. 理念
学修達成センター(AAC)は、学生が中心となり、学業における能力を伸ばし主体的に学ぶ力を引き出すた めの支援を行うことを目的としたセンターです。AACの最大の資源は学生です。学生が互いに尊重し思いや りを持って接し合い、チューターの学生が仲間の学生の目標達成のために支え共に課題に取り組む時、全員 が恩恵を受けることができます。

AACでは、得意な分野で一定の成績を修めた学生がチューターとして個別の助言サポートを行い、AACを 利用する学生がそれぞれの能力を最大限に発揮できるように支援します。AACが提供するサポートは次のと おりです。
