6-2. Study Abroad at Non-partner Institution

(Article 49 of the AIU Institutional Principles and Regulations) (1) Conditions for Study Abroad

A  student  may  study  abroad  at  a  non-partner  institution,  when  his/her  plan  is  considered appropriate and higher achievements are expected, or the non-partner university is recognized as highly distinguished and prestigious through the approval of the Academic Affairs Executive Committee (AAEC). In that case, the student must make all necessary arrangements on his/her own.

(2) Credits

Credits earned at a non-partner university will be accepted as AIU credits through the approval of  the  Academic  Affairs  Executive  Committee  (AAEC).  To  ensure  that  credits  earned  at  such institutions  are  accepted  at  AIU,  students  are  strongly  encouraged  to  collect,  to  the  best  of their ability, the information on the curriculum and courses offered at the institution from their website.  The  student s  study  plan  should,  from  its  early  stages,  be  discussed  with  his/her academic advisor, and approved before departure for study abroad. If it becomes necessary to correct  or  change  the  plan,  the  student  should  consult  with  his/her  academic  adviser  and receive approval during the ADD/DROP period at the host institution.

(3) Period of Study Abroad

The study abroad period shall be limited to one year. 

(4) Status of Students

A  student  studying  abroad  at  a  non-partner  school  maintains  his/her  status  as  a  full-time regular student at AIU, and pays his/her tuition at AIU. 

(5) Costs for Study Abroad

Tuition and other fees at the non-partner university shall be paid fully by the student.

6-3 English Proficiency Test Score after Study Abroad

After returning from study abroad, students are required to take an English proficiency test such as TOEFL^ⓇTEST, TOEIC^ⓇTEST, IELTS, Test in Practical English Proficiency (EIKEN), or United Nations Association's Test of English, etc., and report the result to the university at the time when he/she submits application for graduation.

6-2. 提携大学以外への留学（学則第49条関係）

(1) 留学条件

非提携大学への留学計画が適切で、提携大学への留学を上回るような成果が期待できる、または当該大 学が非常に優れた大学であると教育研究会議の承認を経て認定された場合には、学生は非提携大学へ留 学することができます。ただし、その場合、必要な手続等については、学生自身が全ての責任を負いま す。

(2) 単位認定

非提携大学で取得した単位は、教育研究会議の承認を経てAIUの単位として認められます。本学への単 位互換を確実なものにするためには、留学先のカリキュラム、科目概要などの情報を留学先大学のホー ムページより可能な限り入手し、留学を計画する初期の段階から、アドバイザーと履修計画について相 談し、留学の出発前に承認を得てください。出発前にアドバイザーより承認を受けた履修計画について、

留学先大学での履修登録時に修正または変更が必要となった場合は、必ず留学先大学の履修科目変更期 間内にアドバイザーより再度承認を得てください。

(3) 留学の期間

本取り扱いによる留学の期間は1年以内とします。

(4) 学籍上の取扱い

学籍上の取り扱いは在籍とし、学生は本学へ授業料を納め、この期間は在学年限に含まれます。

(5) 留学に要する経費

留学先の授業料、その他の経費については学生の自己負担となります。

6-3. 留学後の英語能力試験について

本学は、留学後、卒業までの間に、TOEFL^ⓇTEST、TOEIC^ⓇTEST、IELTS、英検、国連英検等いずれ かを受験し、試験結果を卒業申請書と共に大学へ提出することを義務付けています。

そのため、留学後も学生は学内で行うTOEFL ITP^ⓇTESTを年２回の指定の回に無料で受験することがで 外国語科目を学ぶための特別提携大学

For this requirement, students can take specified free TOEFL ITP^ⓇTEST two times a year. Students returned from study abroad can take TOEIC^ⓇTEST IP for free three times a year on campus.

If a student submits a copy of the score of an English proficiency test which was individually taken after returning from study abroad to the Division of Student Records then there is no need to take TOEFL ITP^ⓇTEST or TOEIC^ⓇTEST IP on campus. Students who take TOEFL ITP^ⓇTEST or TOEIC^Ⓡ TEST IP on campus do not need to submit the copy of the score.

AIU aims that all students achieve a score equivalent to TOEFL ITP^ⓇTEST 600 or above at the time of  graduation.  The  proof  of  English  proficiency  will  be  a  strong  sales  point  for  students'  career placements,  so  it  is  recommended  that  the  students  take  the  test  as  soon  as  practical  after returning from study abroad.
