Welcome to Japan!
Kizuna project Youth Exchange Project with Asia-Oceania and North America
Launched by the Government of Japan
What Kizuna Project is Kizuna project is a project run by the Japanese government with the objective of promoting other countries' understanding with regards to Japan's revival efforts in response to the 3.11 Earthquake. The project invites young people from 41 different countries/regions in Asia-Oceania and North America, allowing them to participate in exchange programs, visit disaster-affected areas and engage in volunteer activities. It also involves sending young people from Japan to target countries/regions. Over 12,000 people are to become part of the exchange through this project.

1, Don’t forget to bring Cash.
Japan is still cash-based environment. Although there are some restaurants and shops that accept a credit card, most souvenir shops or small shops don’t accept. So, don’t forget Yen cash!
2, You don’t have to pay a tip.
We don’t have a tipping system. So, it’s not necessary to tip at restaurants or taxi. If you pay a tip to a waitress or taxi driver, they might be surprised and might try to give the tip back as
‘forgotten’ cash.
3, Don’t eat Japanese pizza Japanese pizza is much smaller and more expensive than American one. And the taste is not good as American one.
4, You cannot use telephone function in train or bus.
It’s prohibited to call in train or bus. The reason why is because it might bother other passengers according to the bus and the train company. It doesn’t make sense to me because there are many people talking loud. But, rule is rule. Don’t call to anyone in train or bus. (You can text and use internet, though!) 5, Don’t be surprised with Japanese toilet.
There are two styles of toilets commonly found in Japan. The oldest type is a simple squat toilet which is still somewhat common in public conveniences. and the another one is the bidet toilet which is installed in 72% of Japanese households.
The feature of the bidet toilet is anus washing, bidet washing, seat warming, deodorization and a device called ‘sound princess’
which eliminates toilet noises.
Have a great time in Japan!
