Shinya MAKINO Abstract As the information society develops, it is becoming increasingly important that society should be analyzed from the aspect of information. For analyzing society from this viewpoint, it is indispensable to understand the concept of information accurately. However, the concept of information is so diverse that there are many definitions and explanations of information. In this paper, we try to understand information based on four propositions concerning information:1 information is the pattern, 2 information is the sign, 3 information is the relationship with the agent and4information reduces the uncertainty..
