R1: It consists of intensive reading using textbooks appropriate for the students’ level. Students will achieve understanding of relevant vocabularies using AWL.

R2: It consists of extensive reading activities using graded reader books in the KGU library, group work, and presentation.

W: Blog writing. Reading model essays. Studying modes of academic essays. Timed writing practice. Writing two academic essays per semester

All instruction takes place in English.

到達目標/Learning Goals

R１（ﾘｰﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞ1）では日本人英語学習者特有のリーディング上の弱点を補強することを主な狙いとする。具体的には、語彙力や文法力を強化するとともに、それらを単に知識として持っているだけではなく、実際の運用上で使えるようなスキルにまで持っていくことを目指し、そのためのトレーニングを行う。また、精読を行いつつ、日本人学習者にとって特に有効と思われるリーディングスキル・ストラテジーにも触れる。受講生は、中級レベルの英文（語彙レベル1900～2200：ヨーロッパ共通参照枠のB２）を読解し、内容を要約できるようになる。

R２（ﾘｰﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞ2）では多読教材を使用することで、楽しみながら多くの英語に触れる機会を設けることを主な狙いとする。R1で習得した言語知識や運用力をさらに内在化、自動化させることによって流ちょうな読みを目指す。受講生は、graded readersのレベル２以上を流暢に読めるようになる。

W（ﾗｲﾃｨﾝｸﾞ)では主としてパラグラフレベルから始め、最終的にはエッセイのレベルに至るまでの英文構成力を育成することを目指す。受講生は、250ｰ500語の物語文、300ｰ750語のエッセイを書けるようになる。

OC(ｵｰﾗﾙｺﾐｭﾆｹｰｼｮﾝ)では効果的なリスニングとスピーキングのための訓練を行う。発音やリズム、イントネーションといった基本的な音声指導と同時に、ジェスチャー、アイコンタクトといった効果的なプレゼンテーションのための基本的スキルの育成も目指す。併せて、会話を継続するためのストラテジーを身につけることも目指す。受講生は、身近で簡単な話題について会話をしたり小グループの中で話し合ったり出来るようになる。

到達目標（英文）

Learning Goals

In R1 (Reading 1) class, the major target is to reinforce the reading ability of Japanese learners of English. This includes strengthening their vocabulary and grammar knowledge, making it workable in reading English. Additionally, this course also deals with various types of reading skills and strategies which are considered effective for Japanese learners of English. Students who take this course will be able to read intermediate level English sentences (vocabulary level 1900~2200: B2 of CEFR), and be able to summarise the content.

In R2(Reading 2), the main purpose is to for students to enjoy reading English extensively through ample exposure to the language. The target is for students to be able to read English fluently by internalizing and automatizing the language knowledge and reading skills and strategies that they learned in R1. Students who take this course will be able to fluently read more than level 2 of graded readers.

In W(Writing), starting with paragraph writing, the purpose of this course is for students to be able to write essays. By taking this course, students will be able to write narratives of 250-500 words, and essays of 300-750 words.

In OC (Oral Communication), the main emphasis is training students with listening and speaking skills of the English language. The course content includes pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation. It also includes paralinguistic features such as gestures and eye-contact, which are basic skills for effective presentations. Various types of conversation and repair strategies are also included in the course. Students who take this course will be able to communicate in small groups about easy and familiar topics.

オンライン授業を実施する。

教員による講義と学生が主体となる発話の練習が中心である。特に、学生同士でペアやグループを組んでのロールプレイ、課題に対するプレゼンテーションを行うことが求められる。
