FOREWORD

Special Section on Security, Privacy and Anonymity in Computation, Communication and Storage Systems

As applications of computer systems and networks have permeated in every aspect of our daily life, the issues of security, privacy, and anonymity have become increasingly critical. Especially, architectures, algorithms, techniques, and applications for security, privacy and anonymity become the main concern in this field. Specifically, it is necessary to address research challenges on the security algorithms and archi- tectures, privacy-aware policies, regulations and techniques, anonymous computation and communication, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial appli- cation systems for computation, communication and storage.

We propose this special section in IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems in order to present Security, Privacy and Anonymity of all aspects in computation, communication and storage systems. It is mainly based on three international conferences: (1) SpaCCS 2016 in November 2016 in Zhangjiajie, China; (2) ISPEC 2016 in November 2016 in Zhangjiajie, China; and (3) APSCC 2016 in November 2016 in Zhangjiajie, China. We have also solicited independent submissions by distributing open call for papers for this special section. We received 28 papers including some recommended papers with significant improvements from conferences. Through a rigorous double-blind review process, 13 papers (including 1 invited paper and 2 letters) are selected for publication in this section. We believe that all the papers provide a lot of useful information for readers studying or working in this area. We also believe that this special section will definitely intrigue more research on this promising area in the near future.

The editorial committee would like to thank all the reviewers for their constructive comments, and thank all the authors who submitted their precious research work to this special section.
