Special Section on Information and Communication System

Security

Advancement and diversification of the information network are remarkably recognized, and further evo-lution of our on-going network environment is accomplished by the new architecture such as VPN (Virtual Private Network), mobile computing, RFID, ubiquitous environment, grid computing, the ad hoc network and so on. Considering safety and security for the advanced and diverse information network, many prob-lems are strongly required to be solved in relation to Information and Communication Security including the system development and implementation. Thus, the IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) Transactions on Information and Systems organized a Special Section on In-formation and Communication System Security to promote security technologies for our safe and secure communication environments.

We received 68 papers in response to the call for papers for this special section. Out of these papers, 4 invited papers related to outstanding security topics, 22 papers and 4 letters were selected by the careful and impartial review of the editorial committee.

All the members of the editorial committee would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the authors for their valuable contributions and to all reviewers for their cooperation in completing the review process under the tight schedule. This special section wouldn’t exist without all their voluntary efforts. Special Section Editorial Committee Members:

Guest Editor-in-Chief: Koji Nakao (KDDI/NICT)

Guest Editors: Kouichi Sakurai (Kyushu Univ.), Hiroaki Kikuchi (Tokai Univ.)

Koji Nakao

,Guest Editor-in-Chief

Koji Nakao (Member) received the B.E. degree of Mathematics from Waseda Uni-versity in 1979. He joined KDD (now KDDI) and has been engaged in the research on multi-media systems, communication protocol, information security and its applications. He received IPSJ Research Award in 1992, METI Minister Award and KPMG ISMS Award in 2006, and MIC Director Award and ITU-AJ Award in 2007. He has held an additional post of Incident Response Group Leader in National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) since 2004.
