先生に花束の絵を描いたり、クラスの旗や自分の旗を作 ったりしながら、色の名前を英語で親しみました。はじめ のうちは、自分の言いたい色を

日本語で言っていた子どもたち も、だいぶ英語で言えるように なってきました。

2 年生は曜日の学習をしました。習い事や好きなテレビ 番組、自分の誕生日は今年は何曜日？と曜日に関するトピ ックを元に曜日の学習をしました。自分のことをたくさん聞 いて欲しい2年生は積極的に手を挙げています。

英語の歌もとても上手に歌えています。手遊びや全身で 動きがついている歌も楽しくとり組んでいます。口だけで なく、身体で英語らしいリズムを習得しています。

3 年生は、天気について学習をしました。最終的には 自分の好きな天気を発表し、文字をなぞりました。天気 の語彙が入っている歌もたくさん歌いました。後から追 いかけるスタイルの歌も上手に歌えました。The Eentsy

Weensy Spider の曲では、指で蜘蛛を作り、大きい蜘蛛

だったり、小さいもの、速いもの、遅い蜘蛛 に変身させ、歌を楽しんでいます。

4年は、新しいテキストブックやワードブックを使い学習し ています。低学年の時に音で聞いていたことを文字で見た り、書いたりしています。現在は気持ちと の学 習をしています。今年度から４線に英語を書く練習を始め ていますが、みんな丁寧になぞり、下に書き

【Year 1】

We started the year all together. We wrote our names on our new English books and created name poems about things that we like.

Ms. - We have been working our way through the alphabet. So far we have covered t, s, r and n.

-We started with word families and words that rhyme;

now working on making sure our sentences make sense.

Students started the year together in a combined class working on their goals, and name poems. They also wrote about their holidays, and did a writing comprehension test before splitting into two classes. In their separate classes, they studied the types of sentences and sentence structures with emphasis on beginnings and endings: They must start with uppercased letters, and end with either a period, question mark or exclamation marks. We also studied nouns: common and proper nouns.

【Year 4 】 We started the year with both classes together.

We took our start of the year tests, wrote our names on our new materials, created goals for English and wrote name poems.

Since then we have split into our classes to work on a bit of speech mark review, nouns review,

We all started as a single class, students wrote their name poems, goals and how they enjoyed their spring holidays. They also did a reading comprehension test and a 3 minute reader before splitting into two classes.

In the separate classes the students are enjoying learning about

Milky Way galaxy and that our sun is actually a star. Exciting!

Ms. s novel study: The Mouse and the Motorcycle James and the Giant Peach

To start the term we had our usual testing and writing of names on new books. We wrote goals and name poems too. Now we are at the very earliest of beginning our term project: creating a new character. At the moment students are thinking about adjectives to describe their own faces as well as a teacher at the school.

As usual, both classes started the year together, wrote their: name poems, goals for the year, and did some tests. We have since separated and enjoying being seniors, and learning new things. Students have studied and written their first essay about themselves. Then the use of conjunctions, colons and semi-colons to make their sentences better.

【A.L.O. English Club】

Students were all happy to be back at the English After School Club which is now being renamed Additional Learning Opportunity – ALO. We did self-introductions, talked about how we spent the spring and Golden Week holidays. Everyone had a chance to be famous for having done certain things like: ate made a new friend, or celebrated a birthday etc. during the holidays. We had a great time collecting autographs from these famous students.

【Culture Corner】

Students had been anticipating, and it was fun to be back. We played scramble, talked about spring holidays and wrapped up with a funny cats video. See you next week.
