Special Section on Foundations of Computer Science

— New Trends in Theory of Computation and Algorithm —

We are happy to publish this Special Section on Foundations of Computer Science. This is the eleventh section on this title. The main goal of this special section is to review and promote recent progress in the field of foundations of computer science.

This year, we have received twenty submissions. At least two reviewers to each paper and at least one reviewer to each letter paper were assigned. Based on their comments, we decided to accept twelve papers and two letters for publication.

We would like to thank all the authors for their valuable contributions. We also thank the anonymous reviewers for their comments, we decided to accept eight papers.

We would like to thank all the authors for their valuable contributions. We also thank the anonymous reviews for their voluntary work. As the Guest Editor-in-Chief of this special section, I would like to express my deep thanks to the Guest Associate Editors for their considerable efforts.

Guest Associate Editors:

Toru Araki (Gunma Univ.), Satoshi Fujita (Hiroshima Univ.), Akio Fujiyoshi (Ibaraki Univ.), Kohei Hatano (Kyushu Univ.), Takashi Horiyama (Saitama Univ.), Taisuke Izumi (Nagoya Inst. of Tech- nology), Takuya Kusaka (Okayama Univ.), Shuichi Miyazaki (Kyoto Univ.), Harumichi Nishimura (Nagoya Univ.), Yoshio Okamoto (Univ. of Electro-Communications), Masahiko Sakai (Nagoya Univ.), Suguru Tamaki (Kyoto Univ.), Keisuke Tanaka (Tokyo Inst. of Technology), Akihiro Uejima (Osaka Electro-Communication Univ.). Hirotaka Ono

,Guest Editor-in-Chief

Hirotaka Ono(Member) received his B.E, M.E. and Doctor of Informatics degrees from Kyoto University in 1997, 1999 and 2002 respectively. He is currently an associate pro- fessor in Department of Economic Engineering of Kyushu University. His research interests include combinatorial optimization, logical analysis of data and distributed algorithms. He is a member of the Information Processing Society of Japan and the Operation Research Society of Japan.
