Abstract
The present study objective was to determine the effectiveness of psychoeducation
following discharge from the hospital among patients with schizophrenia who were
admitted to the psychiatric emergency ward. During the study period, we conducted
semi-structured interviews (mean duration, 23 minutes) with 6 patients and transcribed
the interview contents. Data from the interview were then coded and analyzed using a
qualitative inductive analysis. We extracted 16 (subcategories) and 4 [categories].
Ex-traction of the three categories of promote opportunities to gain insight into the disease,
peace of mind regarding treatment, and recurrence prevention indicated that
continua-tion of psychoeducacontinua-tion following discharge was effective. In addicontinua-tion, with regard to
psychiatric emergency nursing methods, the secondary effect revealed that early
inter-vention to promote self-management of medication and cognitive function
rehabilita-tion can contribute to the effective implementarehabilita-tion of psychoeducarehabilita-tion.
