During living in Japan, it is necessary to observe various rules and manners. You may sometimes feel confused, but try to follow the rules checking the news from the town and being taught by neighbors and friends.

自じ治ち会かいは、地ちいき域に住すむ人ひとたちが清せい掃そうや防ぼう災さい訓くん練れん、住すんでいる人ひとたち同どう士しの交こう 流りゅう
のためのイベントなどを行おこなっている会かいです。
The local community association is a group of people living in the community; they conduct clean-up activities, participate in disaster drills, and hold interaction events among people living there.
近きん所じょの人ひとたちが出だし合あったお金かねで活かつ動どうしています。
The activities are managed with the money that the neighbors put out.

Be sure to join the local community association so that you can help out each other with the people in your community in case of an emergency.

日に本ほんでは家いえと家いえの距きょ離りが近ちかいため、大おおきな音おとは近きん所じょの人ひとの迷めい惑わくになりますので、お互たがいに気きを つけましょう。
In Japan, the distance between the house and the house is close, so the loud noise will be a nuisance to the neighbors, so be considerate to each other.

大おお泉いずみ町まちでは、家か庭ていから出でるごみを「燃もえるごみ」「燃もえないごみ」「資し源げんごみ」の３種しゅ類るいに分ぶん別べつして、 決きめられたごみ捨すて場ばに出だすルールがあります。
Oizumi town provides the rule that the people should separate household garbage into three types: “combustible garbage", "noncombustible garbage,” and "recyclable garbage", and must take it out to the designated garbage station.
ごみの種しゅ類るいによって、集あつめる曜よう日びが決きまっています。ごみ収しゅう集しゅうカレンダーで収しゅう集しゅう日びを確かく認にんをし て、当とう日じつの朝あさ8時じ30分ふんまでに出だしましょう。
For each type of garbage, the week day of collection is decided. Check the collection date in the garbage collection calendar and put the garbage out by 8:30 a.m. on the day.
収しゅう集しゅう日びではない日ひや、収しゅうしゅう集日びの前ぜん日じつの夜よるにごみを出だしてはいけません。
Do not take out garbage on days not designated as collection day and on the night before the collection date.
ソファやベッドなどの大おおきなごみは、収しゅうしゅう集できません。自じぶん分で清せい掃そうセンターに持もって行いきましょう。
Large-sized waste, such as sofas and beds, cannot be collected. Take it to the clean center yourself.
また、家か電でん製せい品ひん（テレビ、洗せん濯たく機き、冷れい蔵ぞう庫こ、エアコン）はごみとして出だせません。業ぎょう者しゃにお願ねが いして、リサイクル料りょうを払はらって回かい収しゅうしてもらいましょう。
In addition, home appliances (TV, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners) cannot be put out as waste. Ask the waste collector to take out them；this service is made on a paid basis.

4 Traffic rules and manners
車くるまを運うん転てんするときはしっかりと交こう通つうルールを守まもりましょう。無む免めん許きょでの運うん転てんやお酒さけを飲のんでの 運 うん 転 てん は絶ぜっ対たいにしてはいけません。
When you drive a car, be sure to follow the traffic rules. Never drive without a license or in drink.
また、事じ故こに備そなえて、任にん意い保ほ険けんに加か入にゅうしておきましょう
Also, in case of an accident, you are advised to join non-compulsory insurance.
自じ転てん車しゃも車しゃ両りょうのひとつです。暗くらくなったら必かならずライトをつける、お酒さけを飲のんだら運うん転てんしないな ど、ルールを守まもりましょう。
Bicycles are also a type of vehicle. Be sure to follow the traffic rules and turn on the light when it gets dark and don't drive if you drink alcohol.

5 Pets
犬いぬを飼かうときは町まちに登とう録ろくの届とどけ出でをし、毎まいとし年、狂きょう犬けん病びょうの予よ防ぼう注ちゅう射しゃを受うけさせなければなりません。
When you have a dog, you must notify the town office for registration, and make the pet receive Immunization for rabies every year.
散さん歩ぽのときなどはペットのフンは必かならず持もち帰かえって処しょ分ぶんしましょう。
When you take your pet out for a walk, be sure to take your pet's poop home and dispose it.
一いち度どペットを飼かい始はじめたら家か族ぞくの一いち員いんとして最さい後ごまで面めん倒どうを見みましょう。
Once you start keeping a pet in your home, you should take care of it as a member of your family until the end.

きん1 Taxes
税ぜい金きんは皆みなさんの生せい活かつをより良よくするために使つかわれている大たい切せつなお金かねですので、必かならず納おさめましょう。
The taxes are precious money dedicated for improving your daily life, so please be sure to pay the taxes.
税ぜい金きんが払はらえないときは、そのままにせず、すぐに役やく場ばに相そう談だんに行いきましょう。
If you cannot pay taxes, don't leave them as they are and immediately go consult with the town office

昨さく年ねん分ぶんの住じゅうみん民税ぜいが残のこっている場ば合あい、残のこりをまとめて最さい後ごの給きゅう与よから控こう除じょしてもらい会かい社しゃに納おさめ るか、自じ分ぶんで残のこりの分ぶんを役やく場ばに支し払はらいます。
If you still have remaining residential tax of the last year, you can either deduct the rest from your last salary and pay it to the company, or pay the rest to the government office yourself.

税ぜい金きんを期き限げんまでに納おさめないと、延えん滞たい金きんなどが加か算さんされたり、給きゅう与よなどが差さし押おさえられたりす ることもあります。
If you do not pay the tax on time, you may be charged with arrears, or your salary may be seized.

毎まい年とし2月がつ16日にちから3月がつ15日にちは、確かく定てい申しん告こくの期き間かんです。
Every year from February 16th to March 15th, you should make your final income tax return.
確かく定てい申しん告こくとは、前まえの年とし1年ねん間かんの所しょ得とくと、それにかかる税ぜい金きんを計けい算さんして、税ぜい務むしょ署に申しん告こく書しょを提てい出しゅつ することです。
The final income tax return is a declaration to the tax office of the previous year's income and the calculated taxes on it.
自じ営えい業ぎょうの人ひとや二ふたつ以い上じょうの会かいしゃ社から給きゅう料りょうをもらっている人ひと、マイホームを購こう入にゅうした人ひとは、自じ分ぶんで 申 しん 告 こく を行おこなう必ひつ要ようがあります。

外がい国こく人じんの子こどもたちは、就しゅう学がくの義ぎ務むはありませんが、本ほん人にんと親おやの希き望ぼうがあれば入にゅう学がくすることが できます。子こどもたちの将しょう来らいのため、子こどもに同おなじ環かん境きょうで継けい続ぞくして教きょう育いくを受うけさせましょう。
Foreign children are not required to attend school on compulsory basis, but they can enter the school if the children and the parents wish, for the future of children, it is desirable that they continue to receive education in the same environment.
公こう立りつ小しょう中ちゅう学がっ校こうでは、授じゅ業ぎょう料りょうはかかりませんが、給きゅう食しょく費ひや教きょう材ざい費ひなどは親おやが支し払はらう必ひつ要ようがあります。
Public elementary and junior high schools do not charge tuition fees, but parents must pay for school lunch and teaching materials.
子こどもを学がっ校こうに通かよわせるためにはとてもお金かねがかかりますので、早はやいうちから準じゅん備びしておきま しょう。
For the children to receive school education, a lot of money is required, and so the parents are advised to prepare for it earlier.
また、子こどもがより良よい学がっ校こう生せい活かつを送おくるためには、本ほん人にんはもちろん、親おやも日に本ほん語ごを勉べん強きょうするこ とがとても大たい切せつです。
In addition, in order for the children to lead a better school life, it is very important for the children and their parents to study Japanese.

Health checkup for mother and child
妊にん娠しんしたときは、すぐに役やく場ばに相そう談だんしましょう。
When you find yourself pregnant, immediately go to the town office for consultation.
母ぼ子し健けん康こう手て帳ちょうは、病びょう院いんに行いくとき必ひつ要ようになりますので、必かならずもらって、大たい切せつに保ほ管かんしましょう。
Since the Maternal and Child Health Handbook is required when you go to see a doctor (in a clinic or hospital), you are advised to have it issued and kept in a secure place.
子こどもが生うまれる前まえの妊にん婦ぷ健けん診しんや、生うまれた後あとの乳にゅう幼よう児じ検けん診しんや予よぼう防接せっ種しゅはとても大たい切せつです。 子こどもの健けん康こうのために必かならず受うけましょう。
It is very important to have a pregnancy checkup before the child is born and to receive an infant checkup and vaccination after birth.
Be sure to have a health checkup for your child's health.
児じ童どう手て当あて・児じ童どう扶ふ養よう手て当あて
Child Allowance and Child Support Allowance
児じ童どう手て当あては、日に本ほんに住すむ15歳さいまでの子こどもを持もつ保ほ護ご者しゃに支し給きゅうされるものです。
Child allowances are provided to the parents who have a child or children up to 15 years of age living in Japan.
児じ童どう扶ふ養よう手て当あては、ひとり親おや世せ帯たいで、18歳さいまでの子こどもを持もつ父ふ母ぼや養よう育いく者しゃに支し給きゅうされるものです。
Child support allowances, eligible for single-parent households, are provided to parents and caregivers who have a child or children up to 18 years of age.
児じ童どう手て当あてや児じ童どう扶ふ養よう手て当あてを受じゅ給きゅうしている人ひとは、毎まい年とし1回かい、現げん況きょう届とどけを提てい出しゅつしなければなりません。 現 げん 況 きょう 届 とどけ を提てい出しゅつしないと手て当あてを受うけることができなくなります。
Those who receive child allowances and child support allowances must submit a status report once a year. If you do not submit a status report, you will not be able to receive allowance.

健 けん 康 こう 保ほ険けん Health insurance 3か月げつより長ながく日に本ほんに住すむ資し格かくがある人ひとは、必かならず健けん康こう保ほ険けんに加か入にゅうしなければなりません。 病 びょう 気きやケガをしたときに、健けん康こう保ほ険けんに入はいっていないと、病びょう院いんで多た額がくの治ち療りょう費ひを払はらわなければなら なくなります。Those who are eligible to live in Japan for longer than three months must have health insurance.
If you are sick or injured and you do not have health insurance, you will have to pay a large amount of medical treatment fees at the hospital.
健けん康こう保ほ険けんには、会かい社しゃなどの健けん康こう保ほ険けんと国こく民みん健けん康こう保ほ険けんがあり、会かい社しゃなどの健けん康こう保ほ険けんに加か入にゅうしてい ない人ひとは、国こく民みん健けんこう康保ほ険けんに加か入にゅうしましょう。
Health insurance includes health insurances such as company and national health insurance, and those who do not have health insurance provided by the company should join the national health insurance.
国こく民みん健けん康こう保ほ険けんでは、次つぎのようなときは役やく場ばで手て続つづきが必ひつ要ようです。
When applying for the national health insurance, the procedures should be taken at the town office in the following cases:

When you join a company or other health insurance, or when you leave a company health insurance
年 ねん 金 きん Pension 高こう齢れいになったり、ケガをして障しょう害がいが残のこって働はたらけなくなった時ときなどに、お金かねを支し給きゅうするための制せい 度どです。
The pension is a system to provide money when you become old, injured, and unable to work due to disability.
外がい国こく人じんでも、3か月げつより長ながく日にほん本に滞たい在ざいする20〜60歳さいの人ひとは加か入にゅうしなければなりません。
Foreigners, staying Japan for longer than three months and between the ages of 20 and 60 must join the pension system.
65歳さい以い上じょうの人ひとがもらえる老ろう齢れい年ねん金きんは最さい低てい10年ねん間かん加か入にゅうしている必ひつ要ようがあるなど、支し給きゅうには条じょう件けん があります。
In order for you to be eligible for the payment of old-age pension, you must satisfy a certain requirement that you be enrolled for at least 10 years.
また、6か月げつ以い上じょう保ほ険けん料りょうを納おさめた外がい国こく人じんが帰き国こくした場ば合あい、2年ねん以い内ないであれば脱だっ退たい一いち時じ金きんの請せい求きゅう ができます。

日に本ほんは地じ震しんや台たい風ふうなどの災さい害がいが多おおい国くにです。災さい害がいはいつどこで起おきるか分わかりませんので普ふ段だん から備そなえておくことが大たい切せつです。
Japan is a country with many disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons. It is important to stay prepared for a disaster because it occurs haphazardly. 準 じゅん 備び Preparation 災さい害がいが起おきたときのために、普ふ段だんから準じゅん備びや情じょう報ほう収しゅう集しゅうをしておきましょう。
In case of a disaster, stay prepared and gather information regularly.
３日にち分ぶんくらいの食たべもの、飲のみものや、懐かいちゅう中電でん灯とう、薬くすりなどは、いつでも持もち出だせるようまとめ て袋ふくろに入いれておきましょう。
To meet the needs for about three days, you should pack food, drink, flashlight, medicine, etc. in a bag that you can take it out any time.
また、家いえの近ちかくの避ひ難なんしょ所の場ば所しょを確かく認にんしておきましょう。

災さい害がいが起おきたときは自じ分ぶんの身みを守まもるために、自じ治ち体たいなどの情じょう報ほうに従したがい、避ひ難なんしましょう。
In the event of a disaster, in order to protect yourself, follow the information of the local government, etc., before evacuating.
地じ震しんが起おきたときは
Occurrence of an earthquake:
大おおきな地じ震しんが起おきたときは、まずは丈じょう夫ぶな机つくえなどの下したに身みを隠かくしましょう。
When a big earthquake occurs, first hide yourself under a sturdy desk.
扉とびらがゆがんで開ひらかなくなってしまうこともあるので、脱だっ出しゅつ口こうを確かく保ほしておきましょう。
Since the door may not open due to distortion, you are advised to plan another evacuation exit beforehand.
急きゅうに外そとに飛とび出だすと危き険けんですので、周しゅう囲いをよく確たしかめ、揺ゆれがおさまってから避ひ難なんしましょう。
Since jumping outside suddenly is dangerous, start evacuating by checking the surroundings carefully and wait until the shaking subsides, if necessary.
危き険けんなものが落おちている場ば合あいもあるため、室しつ内ないでも靴くつなどを履はいて動うごきましょう。
In some cases, dangerous things may fall from the above and lay on the floor, wear shoes when moving indoors.
車くるまの中なかにいたときは、まず車くるまを止とめてエンジンを切きりましょう。避ひ難なんするときは鍵かぎをつけたま まにしておきましょう。
When you're in a car, stop the car first and turn off the engine. Leave the key on when you evacuate.

For people who take time to evacuate, guide them to evacuate in earlier stage (e.g. elderly people and small children).
