不定詞 ・不定詞の形:〈(1 to)+(2 動詞の原形)〉 (1) 副詞的用法 ・行動の目的を表し,(3 ∼するために)と訳す。

(4 Ken studies English to go to America.) 「ケンはアメリカに行くために英語を勉強します。」

(2) 形容詞的用法

・うしろから名詞を説明し,(5 ∼すべき…)と訳す。

(6 I have a lot of homework to do.) 「わたしにはするべき宿題がたくさんあります。」

・「何か食べ物」=(7 something to eat) 「何か飲み物」=(8 something to drink

(3) 名詞的用法

・(9 ∼すること)と訳す。

(10 He likes to play baseball.) 「彼は野球をすることが好きです。」

・「∼したい」=(11 want to)  「∼になりたい」=(12 want to be

・動名詞の形と意味:(14 動詞の ing 形)=(15 ∼すること)

・動名詞は不定詞に書きかえることができる。

・動名詞は文の主語になることがあり,単数として扱う。「∼することは…です」と訳す。 その場合は,不定詞に書きかえることができる。

 On the second day in London, Aki and her father walked near his house. They found some houses with gardens and enjoyed seeing flowers. Aki saw many roses in a garden and said, Look at those beautiful roses! She also saw an old man in the garden. Then she said to him, Hello. ( ① ) The man said, Yes, these are my roses.
