Special Section on Foundations of Computer Science

— Frontiers of Theoretical Computer Science —

We are happy to publish this Special Section on Foundations of Computer Science. This is the fifteenth section of this title. The main goal of this section is to review and to promote recent progress in the field of foundations of computer science.

This year we received sixteen submissions from Japan and other Asian countries. After careful and strict review process, four papers and two letters were accepted for publication. Those cover various topics in the foundation of computer science.

We would like to thank all of the authors for submitting their research work. We deeply appreciate the anonymous reviewers for their voluntary work. Finally, as the Guest Editor-in-Chief of this special section, I would like to express my deep thanks to the Guest Editors for their hard work.

Guest Associate Editors:

Hideo Bannai (Kyushu Univ.), Jinhee Chun (Tohoku Univ.), Akio Fujiyoshi (Ibaraki Univ.), Shingo Hasegawa (Tohoku Univ.), Kohei Hatano (Kyushu Univ.), Taisuke Izumi (Nagoya Inst. of Tech- nology), Naonori Kakimura (Keio Univ.), Naoyuki Kamiyama (Kyushu Univ.), Akinori Kawachi (Osaka Univ.), Masashi Kiyomi (Yokohama City Univ.), Takeshi Koshiba (Waseda Univ.), Keiichirou Kusakari (Gifu Univ.), Harumichi Nishimura (Nagoya Univ.), Akiyoshi Shioura (Tokyo Inst. of Tech- nology), Keisuke Tanaka (Tokyo Inst. of Technology), Kei Uchizawa (Yamagata Univ.)

Shuji Kijima

(Kyushu Univ.),Guest Editor-in-Chief

Shuji Kijima(Member) received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. from the University of To- kyo, in 2002, 2004, and 2007, respectively. He is Associate Professor of Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering at Kyushu University, and PRESTO Researcher of JST. His research interests include mathematical engineering and theoretical computer science. He is a member of IEICE, IPSJ, ORSJ, JSS, JSCS, ACM, and SIAM.
