FOREWORD

Special Section on Security, Privacy and Anonymity of Internet of Things

With the extensive research and development of computer, communication and control technologies, it is possible to connect all things to the Internet such that the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) can be formed. These things may be equipped with devices such as sensors, actuators, and RFID tags, in order to allow people and things to be connected anytime and anywhere, with anything and anyone. When more and more things connect to the Internet, security and privacy issues become more serious, especially in the case that these things are equipped with actuators and can support control applications. For better protection of secure communication and user privacy, including location, identity and behavior habits, it is necessary to develop anonymous communication theories, methods and key technologies of anonymous communication systems in all varieties of application environments.

We propose this special section in IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems in order to present Security, Privacy and Anonymity of all aspects of IoT research and development. It is mainly based on three international conferences: (1) IEEE PRDC 2015 in November 2015 in Zhangjiajie, China; (2) ICA3PP 2015 in November 2015 in Zhangjiajie, China; and (3) IEEE SpaIoT 2015 in August 2015 in Helsinki, Finland. We have also solicited independent submissions by distributing open call for papers for this special section. We received 27 papers including some recommended papers with significant improvements from conferences. Through a rigorous double-blind review process, 14 papers (including 3 invited papers) are selected for publication in this section. We believe that all the papers provide a lot of useful information for readers studying or working in this area. We also believe that this special section will definitely intrigue more research on this promising area in the near future.

The editorial committee would like to thank all the reviewers for their constructive comments, and thank all the authors who submitted their precious research work to this special section.

Editorial Committee for this Special Section Guest Editors:
