∇ツ∠ヘ∇ャや ヱ⊥ク ⊥ヮzヤャや∠ヱ ⊥¬べ∠ゼ∠Α リ∠ョ び ⌒ユΒ⌒ヌ∠バ∇ャや ⌒モ

(20. Know t hat t he life of t his world is only play and amusement , pomp and mut ual boast ing among you, and rivalry in respect of wealt h and children. (It is) like a rain (Ghayt h), t hereof t he growt h is pleasing t o t he t iller; aft erwards it dries up and you see it t urning yellow; t hen it becomes st raw. But in t he Hereaft er (t here is) a severe t orment , and (t here is) forgiveness from Allah and (His) pleasure. And t he life of t his world is only a deceiving enj oyment .) (21.

Race wit h one anot her in hast ening t owards forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise t he widt h whereof is as t he widt h of t he heaven and t he eart h, prepared for t hose who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is t he grace of Allah which He best ows on whom He is pleased wit h.

And Allah is t he Owner of great bount y.)

び∃ゑ∇Β∠ビ ⌒モ∠ん∠ヨ∠ミぴ

(Like a rain (Ghayt h),) which is t he rain t hat comes down t o mankind, aft er t hey had felt despair. Allah t he Exalt ed said in anot her Ayah,

び∇やヲ⊥ト∠レ∠ホ ゅ∠ョ ⌒ギ∇バ∠よ リ⌒ョ ∠ゑ∇Β∠ピ∇ャや ⊥メあゴ∠レ⊥Α ン⌒グzャや ∠ヲ⊥ワ∠ヱぴ

(And He it is Who sends down t he Ghayt h (rain) aft er t hey have despaired.)(42:28) Allah's st at ement ,

⊥ム∇ャや ∠ょ∠イ∇ハ∠ぺぴ び⊥ヮ⊥ゎゅ∠ら∠ル ∠ケゅzヘ

(t hereof t he growt h is pleasing t o t he t iller;) meaning t hat farmers admire t he veget at ion t hat grows in t he aft ermat h of rain. And j ust as farmers admire veget at ion, t he disbelievers admire t his life; t hey are t he most eager t o acquire t he t rait s of life, and life is most dear t o t hem,

び⇔ゅョゅ∠ト⊥ェ ⊥ラヲ⊥ム∠Α zユ⊥を ⇔や∂ゲ∠ヘ∇ダ⊥ョ ⊥ロや∠ゲ∠わ∠プ ⊥アΒ⌒ヰ∠Α zユ⊥をぴ

(aft erwards it dries up and you see it t urning yellow; t hen it becomes st raw.) meaning, t hat veget at ion soon t urns yellow in color, aft er being fresh and green. Aft er t hat , t he green fades away and becomes scat t ered pieces of dust . This is t he parable of t his worldly life, it st art s young, t hen mat ures and t hen t urns old and feeble. This is also t he parable of mankind in t his life; t hey are young and st rong in t he beginning. In t his st age of life, t hey look yout hful and handsome. Slowly, t hey begin growing older, t heir mannerism changes and t heir st rengt h weakens. They t hen grow old and feeble; moving becomes difficult for t hem, while doing easy t hings becomes beyond t heir abilit y. Allah t he Exalt ed said,

⌒ギ∇バ∠よ リ⌒ョ ∠モ∠バ∠ィ zユ⊥を ∃ブ∇バ∠ッ リあョ ∇ユ⊥ム∠ボ∠ヤ∠カ ン⌒グzャや ⊥ヮzヤャやぴ

⇔る∠ら∇Β∠セ∠ヱ ⇔ゅヘ∇バ∠ッ ∃りzヲ⊥ホ ⌒ギ∇バ∠よ リ⌒ョ ∠モ∠バ∠ィ zユ⊥を ∃りzヲ⊥ホ ∃ブ∇バ∠ッ び ⊥ゲΑ⌒ギ∠ボ∇ャや ⊥ユΒ⌒ヤ∠バ∇ャや ∠ヲ⊥ワ∠ヱ ⊥¬べ∠ゼ∠Α ゅ∠ョ ⊥ペ⊥ヤ∇ガ∠Α

(Allah is He Who creat ed you in (a st at e of) weakness, t hen gave you st rengt h aft er weakness, t hen aft er st rengt h gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creat es what He wills. And He is t he All-Knowing, t he All-Powerful.)(30:54) This parable indicat es t he near demise of t his life and t he imminent end of it , while in cont rast , t he Hereaft er is surely coming. Those who hear t his parable should, t herefore, be aware of t he significance of t he Hereaft er and feel eagerness in t he goodness t hat it cont ains,

⌒り∠ゲ⌒カxΙや ヴ⌒プ∠ヱぴ

⌒ヮzヤャや ∠リあョ ∀り∠ゲ⌒ヘ∇ピ∠ョ∠ヱ ∀ギΑ⌒ギ∠セ ∀ゆや∠グ∠ハ

び⌒ケヱ⊥ゲ⊥ピ∇ャや ⊥ノ⇒∠わ∠ョ zΙ⌒ま べ∠Β∇ルぁギャや ⊥りヲ∠Β∠エ∇ャや ゅ∠ョ∠ヱ ∀ラ∠ヲ∇ッ⌒ケ∠ヱ

(But in t he Hereaft er (t here is) a severe t orment , and (t here is) forgiveness from Allah and (His) pleasure. And t he life of t his world is only a deceiving enj oyment .) meaning, surely, t he Hereaft er t hat will cert ainly come cont ains t wo t hings eit her severe punishment or forgiveness from Allah and His good pleasure. Allah t he Exalt ed said,

び⌒ケヱ⊥ゲ⊥ピ∇ャや ⊥ノ⇒∠わ∠ョ zΙ⌒ま ゅ∠Β∇ルぁギャや ⊥りヲ∠Β∠エ∇ャや ゅョ∠ヱぴ

(And t he life of t his world is only a deceiving enj oyment .) meaning, t his life is only a form of enj oyment t hat deceives t hose who incline t o it . Surely, t hose who recline t o t his life will admire it and feel t hat it is dear t o t hem, so much so, t hat t hey might t hink t hat t his is t he only life, no life or dwelling aft er it . Yet , in realit y, t his life is insignificant as compared t o t he Hereaft er. Imam Ahmad recorded t hat ` Abdullah said t hat t he Messenger of Allah said,

∇ユ⊥ミ⌒ギ∠ェ∠ぺ ヴ∠ャ⌒ま ⊥ゆ∠ゲ∇ホ∠ぺ ⊥るzレ∠イ∇ヤ∠ャ

⊥ケゅzレャや∠ヱ ∩⌒ヮ⌒ヤ∇バ∠ル ⌒ポや∠ゲ⌒セ ∇リ⌒ョ

マ⌒ャク ⊥モ∇ん⌒ョ

«

(Paradise is nearer t o any of you t han t he st rap on his shoe, and so is t he (Hell) Fire.) Al-Bukhari collect ed t his Hadit h t hrough t he narrat ion of At h-Thawri. This Hadit h indicat es t he close proximit y of bot h good and evil in relat ion t o mankind. If t his is t he case, t hen t his is t he reason Allah t he Exalt ed encouraged mankind t o rush t o perform act s of right eousness and obedience and t o avoid t he prohibit ions. By doing so, t heir sins and errors will be forgiven and t hey will acquire rewards and an exalt ed st at us. Allah t he Exalt ed said,

ゅ∠ヰ⊥ッ∇ゲ∠ハ ∃るzレ∠ィ∠ヱ ∇ユ⊥ムあよzケ リあョ ∃り∠ゲ⌒ヘ∇ピ∠ョ ヴ∠ャ⌒ま ∇やヲ⊥ボ⌒よゅ∠シぴ び⌒チ∇ケxΙや∠ヱ ⌒¬べ∠ヨzジャや ⌒チ∇ゲ∠バ∠ミ

(Race wit h one anot her in hast ening t owards forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise t he widt h whereof is as t he widt h of t he heaven and t he eart h,) Allah t he Exalt ed said in anot her Ayah,

ゅ∠ヰ⊥ッ∇ゲ∠ハ ∃るzレ∠ィ∠ヱ ∇ユ⊥ムあよzケ リあョ ∃り∠ゲ⌒ヘ∇ピ∠ョ ヴ∠ャ⌒ま ∇やヲ⊥ハ⌒ケゅ∠シ∠ヱぴ び ∠リΒ⌒ボzわ⊥ヨ∇ヤ⌒ャ ∇れzギ⌒ハ⊥ぺ ⊥チ∇ケxΙや∠ヱ ⊥れ∠ヲ⇒∠ヨzジャや

(And march fort h in t he way (t o) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as t he heavens and t he eart h, prepared for t hose who have Taqwa.)(3:133) Allah said here,

⌒ヮzヤャや ⊥モ∇ツ∠プ ∠マ⌒ャ∠ク ⌒ヮ⌒ヤ⊥シ⊥ケ∠ヱ ⌒ヮzヤャゅ⌒よ ∇やヲ⊥レ∠ョや∠¬ ∠リΑ⌒グzヤ⌒ャ ∇れzギ⌒ハ⊥ぺぴ

∠ヱ ⊥¬べ∠ゼ∠Α リ∠ョ ⌒ヮΒ⌒ゎ∇ぽ⊥Α び⌒ユΒ⌒ヌ∠バ∇ャや ⌒モ∇ツ∠ヘ∇ャや ヱ⊥ク ⊥ヮzヤャや

(prepared for t hose who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is t he grace of Allah which He best ows on whom He is pleased wit h. And Allah is t he Owner of great bount y.) meaning,

"This, t hat Allah has qualified t hem for, is all a part of His favor, bount y and compassion.'' We ment ioned a Hadit h collect ed in t he Sahih in which t he poor emigrant s said t o t he Messenger ,

"O Allah's Messenger! The wealt hy people will get higher grades and permanent enj oyment .'' He asked,

(Why is t hat ) They said, "They pray like us and fast as we do. However, t hey give in charit y, whereas we cannot do t hat , and t hat free servant s, whereas we cannot afford it .'' The Prophet said,

∠バ∠プ や∠ク⌒ま ∃¬∇ヶ∠セ ヴ∠ヤ∠ハ ∇ユ⊥ムぁャ⊥キ∠ぺ ゅ∠ヤ∠プ∠ぺ

∠ノ∠レ∠タ ∇リ∠ョ ゅzャ⌒ま ∇ユ⊥ム∇レ⌒ョ ∠モ∠ツ∇プ∠ぺ ∀ギ∠ェ∠ぺ ⊥ラヲ⊥ム∠Α ゅ∠ャ∠ヱ ∩∇ユ⊥ミ∠ギ∇バ∠よ

∇ユ⊥わ∇バ∠レ∠タ ゅ∠ョ ∠モ∇ん⌒ョ

∠ラヱ⊥ギあヨ∠エ⊥ゎ∠ヱ ∠ラヱ⊥ゲあら∠ム⊥ゎ∠ヱ ∠ラヲ⊥エあら∠ジ⊥ゎ

リΒ⌒をゅ∠ヤ∠を∠ヱ ゅ⇔をゅ∠ヤ∠を ∃りゅ∠ヤ∠タ あモ⊥ミ ∠ゲ⊥よ⊥キ

«

n(Shall I t ell you of a good deed t hat , if you act ed upon, you would cat ch up wit h t hose who have surpassed you none would overt ake you and be bet t er t han you, except t hose who might do t he same. Say, "Glorious is Allah,'' "Allah is Most Great ,'' and "Praise be t o Allah,'' t hirt y t hree t imes each aft er every prayer.) They lat er came back and said, "Our wealt hy bret hren heard what we did and t hey st art ed doing t he same.'' Allah's Messenger said,

¬ゅ∠ゼ∠Α ∇リ∠ョ ⌒ヮΒ⌒ゎ∇ぽ⊥Α ⌒ぶや ⊥モ∇ツ∠プ ∠マ⌒ャク

This is t he favor of Allah t hat He gives t o whom He wills.)

∠ぺ べ∠ョぴ ヴ⌒プ ∠Ι∠ヱ ⌒チ∇ケxΙや ヴ⌒プ ∃る∠らΒ⌒ダぁョ リ⌒ョ ∠ゆゅ∠タ

∠マ⌒ャ∠ク zラ⌒ま べ∠ワ∠ぺ∠ゲ∇らzル ラ∠ぺ ⌒モ∇ら∠ホ リあョ ∃ょ⇒∠わ⌒ミ ヴ⌒プ zΙ⌒ま ∇ユ⊥ム⌒ジ⊥ヘル∠ぺ

∀ゲΒ⌒ジ∠Α ⌒ヮzヤャや ヴ∠ヤ∠ハ

∠Ι∠ヱ ∇ユ⊥ム∠ゎゅ∠プ ゅ∠ョ ヴ∠ヤ∠ハ ∇や∇ヲ∠シ∇ほ∠ゎ ∠Κ∇Β∠ムあャ

-∃メゅ∠わ∇ガ⊥ョ zモ⊥ミ ぁょ⌒エ⊥Α ∠Ι ⊥ヮzヤャや∠ヱ ∇ユ⊥ム⇒∠ゎや∠¬ べ∠ヨ⌒よ ∇やヲ⊥ェ∠ゲ∇ヘ∠ゎ

∃ケヲ⊥ガ∠プ

⌒モ∇ガ⊥ら∇ャゅ⌒よ ∠サゅzレャや ∠ラヱ⊥ゲ⊥ョ∇ほ∠Α∠ヱ ∠ラヲ⊥ヤ∠ガ∇ら∠Α ∠リΑ⌒グzャや

-び ⊥ギΒ⌒ヨ∠エ∇ャや ぁヴ⌒レ∠ピ∇ャや ∠ヲ⊥ワ ∠ヮzヤャや zラ⌒み∠プ zメ∠ヲ∠わ∠Α リ∠ョ∠ヱ

(22. No calamit y occurs in t he eart h nor in yourselves but it is inscribed in t he Book of Decrees before We bring it int o exist ence. Verily, t hat is easy for Allah.) (23. In order t hat you may not grieve at t he t hings over t hat you fail t o get , nor rej oice over t hat which has been given t o you.

And Allah likes not prideful boast ers.) (24. Those who are misers and enj oin miserliness upon people. And whosoever t urns away, t hen Allah is Rich, Wort hy of all praise.)
