Office hours 14:40-17:10, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The instructor is available when he is in the office, but by appointment preferred.

Course Description: Improves presentation skills. Students learn skills of selecting a topic, finding appropriate Japanese sources, and creating an effective presentation of research results. Students will be encouraged to develop techniques of presenting their ideas clearly in ways which interest and engage a general audience. This year the course focuses on various skills related to job hunting, starting from effective C.V. writing, to good interview performance.

Course Goals/Objectives: (1) First of all, to know oneself well (2) To obtain presentation skills at group interview.

(3) To obtain knowledge and insight about what interviewers want to know at an interview session for job applicants. (4) Advanced communicative proficiency in Japanese.

Class Preparation and Review: A student is advised to think about and prepare well for the interview s/he conducts at least one hour a day. Here are some tips for the preparation. To know well about (1) what kind of ability his/her company etc. requires of its applicants. (2) what s/he wants to know about the job applicants by asking such and such a question, (3) how s/he should ask a question in order to know about what s/he wants to know.

Course Policies (Attendance, etc.) Attendance and Class Participation: 1. No credits for the course will be given to a student who has missed more than three class sessions, including Final Examination; if the student misses four class sessions, s/he will be required to withdraw from the course. 2. If you are 10 minutes late for the class, it will be counted as absence and not as tardiness. The same rule is to be applied if you leave the class 10 minutes before it ends. 3. Neither eating nor drinking is allowed during the class.

The instructor gives verbal comments on group interview performance by students after each interview.
