Special Section on Human Communication III

Communication services on the high-speed, digital network have brought us convenience and more ameni-ties for life. Various information can be transmitted by the digital network; video conferencing telephone, IP telephone, and online community, etc. The expansion in the freedoms provided by information channel selection offers us greater convenience. However, users are becoming more puzzled since they are unclear exactly what information is transmitted to others by what media or the modality. The research field of Human Communications aims to examine the essence of communications, and to use the results gained to improve information and communications technologies. It is a field that is indispensable if telecommuni-cation is to keep growing.

This special section contains one invited paper and 13 selected papers. 33 papers and 2 letters were submitted to this special section. After careful referee assessment, we accepted 12 papers and 1 letter. We believe this special section will significantly advance the growth of human communications research. We believe you will be motivated by these excellent papers.

The guest editor would like to thank all the authors for their contributions, and the editorial committee members and all the referees for their critical reviews.
