A study of subjects in the area of music expression(2); Through the programs for training teachers for nursery schools,
kindergartens and elementary schools
Yuki Umemoto, Reiko Kanai, Kuniaki Kojima, Masao Deguchi This paper is a report on the implementation (by the teaching staff in charge) and the future prospects of the four classes on musical expression in the Department of Child Studies at Urawa University. These classes are excluding those designed to teach piano performance skills. The curriculum in the field of musical expression organized by this Department offers training courses for nursery school, kindergarten, and elementary school teachers. The aim of these courses is to teach students to meet the practical demands of nursery school and educational settings while, facilitating their understanding of the essence of “expression” to train them to be nursery school teachers and kindergarten/elementary school teachers who are able to cultivate children’s ability to express a wide range of emotions.
