Hachioji City holds a free consultation by expert such as lawyer, administrative
scrivener with an interpreter in February each year. In addition, Hachioji International
Association sets up a consultation for foreign residents. Please consult us if you have

Festival of walking over Fire March 13 (Sun.)
This is publicly opened ceremony of fire ascetic practices of Buddhist hermit. The climax is the scene when Buddhist hermit walk over the fire, praying the accomplishment of his several desires. In addition to believers, general visitors can participate in this ceremony.

“Seminar on Employment Support” and “Tour Companies in Hachioji” for foreign students who wish to work in Japan were conducted on last Nov.26(Sat.) and 30(Wed.) respectively. In “Seminar on Employment Support” conducted at College Community Center in Hachioji, the participants had an opportunity to hear various lectures from stuffs in Tokyo Employment Service Center for Foreigners, NPO Ryugaku Kyokai (Study Abroad Support Council), and Industrial Policy Section in Hachioji City Hall. They also had an opportunity to hear the talk directly from the stuff in Hachioji companies that employ foreigners. In addition, the provision of information from Tokyo Employment Service Center for Foreigners, and individual career counseling that can participate in seminars were also conducted.
In “Tour Companies”, the participants visited several companies in Hachioji by bus, saw the jobs there, and could hear valuable advice from foreign people who were working there. They ate lunch at popular “Hachioji Takiyama Michi-no-Eki at noon. The students also visited a waste processing facility in Hachioji, and were able to study about the meaning and importance of waste separation in which they had a full one-day fulfilling bus tour.

About the Reform of Resident Registration and Immigration
Part 3: Temporary Resident Register
On July 2012, “resident register” similar to the Japanese version will be issued for foreign residents because of the abolition of the Alien Registration Act, and reform of Resident Registration and Immigration. The temporary resident register will be created based on the information of Alien Registration at the Reference Date (scheduled on May 2012) for the preparation.
This temporary resident register will become a resident register of you at the Effective Date (scheduled on July 2012) of the new system.

The targets to create a temporary resident register are foreigners who do not fit into any of the following ① to ③ among those who applied an alien registration in Hachioji.
①“Short-stay visa” status
②Period of stay “less than 3 months”
③The period of stay expires before the effective date
“Notification of the Matters described in Temporary Resident Register” will be sent to the targets to inform the
content based on the temporary resident register. If the notification is different from the actual information, please change your Alien Registration at Hachioji City Hall to reflect that change in your temporary resident register.
※When you have any different description on your Certificate of Alien Registration, please complete the procedure for the change as early as possible.
Under the new system, Kanji used in your name will be replaced by a Kanji commonly used in Japan such as “马”is “馬”, “张”is “張” and so on.
