The Meiji Restoration became called "a revolution" in the debate over the characteristics of the Meiji Restoration again in the 1930s, but the opinion to emphasize revolutional characteristics of the Meiji Restoration disappeared in a movement of ultranationalism in the domestic situation, and in the rise of Nazism and Fascism.
