Goldfish have been prized by the Japanese s i n c e t h e E d o e r a (17 - 19th century). The exhibition “ECO E D O N i h o n b a s h i Art Aquarium 2014 – Cooling off with
Edo and Goldfish – & Night Aquarium” is being held until September 23 at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall (Chuo Ward, Tokyo Prefecture). Using the latest light and imagery technol-ogy, the goldfish, in tanks designed to display Japanese pat-terns, are transformed into brightly colored works of art. The music and illuminations change at 7:00 p.m.
金 きん魚ぎょは江え戸ど時じ代だい（17 ～ 19 世せい紀き）から日にほん本人じんに親したしま れてきた。「ECO EDO 日 にほん本ばし橋 アートアクアリウム 2014 ～江 え戸ど・金きん魚ぎょの涼りょう～＆ナイトアクアリウム」が 9 月がつ23 日にち まで日 にほん本ばし橋みつ三井いホール（東とうきょう京都とちゅう中おう央区く）にて開かい催さいされ ている。和 わをモチーフにデザインされた水すい槽そう、光ひかり、映えいぞう像 など最 さいしん新技ぎじゅつ術を使つかい、金きん魚ぎょを鮮あざやかな芸げいじゅつ術品ひんにする。夜よる 7 時 じからは音おん楽がくや照しょう明めいの演えんしゅつ出が変かわる。

eep in the Japanese countryside, it’s possible to see a wild landscape known as “satoyama.” On the border between areas populated by humans and the moun-tains, it’s an environment in which humans coexist alongside nature. After World War II, people’s lifestyles rapidly changed and most of these areas were lost. The name of the area, Hida Takayama, brings to mind images of old-Japanese style houses. Although they rarely see such traditional Japanese-style houses any more, in Hida, visitors can not only see them, but also stay in them.
