Since 1973, investigations on treatment and utilization of animal waste have been conducted to determine the performance of the slurry pump, spreader, injector and rain gun in Hokkaido. In this report,
the method of treatment was accomplished by the use of a rotary tiller with slurry applicator. Slurry was disposed and spread into the subsurface of soil .
The experiments were continued from 1976 to 1978 on the volcanic ash soils in Hokkaido. The treated四 teof slurry ranged from 32 to 160 tJha.
