(2) Research on the skill tradition in the genba Yoshinosuke Suzuki School of Knowledge Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology March 2002 Keywords: skill , Skill tradition , Teaching method , Coaching In this research, with "the teaching method which promotes skill tradition", in order to show clearly what it is, the case study for the case research by literature and a precision-instruments maker A company was performed.It was shown clearly through analysis of an example that there is a common feature with coaching in an experienced technician's teaching method. Furthermore, the proposal about the teaching method which promotes skill tradition as practical connotation was carried out. First, the literature review was performed about the concept of skill, skill formation, and the definition of coaching. (1) Capability for skill to be a product of experience and to produce the result to mean. Moreover, it is the capability for various knowledge to be properly used according to a situation.(2) The situation practice by a student's active measure is important for skill formation. (3) Coaching is a teaching method to which companion the mind and active measure of a student are urged by conversation or a question. Three points to say were clarified. Next, the problem setup "coaching which tells an experienced technician's skill" was carried out by case analysis. Moreover, the problem was clarified about "some an experienced technician's teaching methods are common features to" "experienced technician's teaching method and coaching technique." As a result, it was performing "it is a setup of a technical target by interview", or "leaving and guiding the portion which a student considers and masters" through the example of A company. These can be called measure to which a student's spontaneous action is urged, and agree by the technique of coaching in the study (problem solving) which led practice to the Socrates method (the interactive educational method).
