Maki,Wasada,andHashimoto(2003)foundarelativelyhighcorrelationbetween thescoresontheMinimalEnglishTest(MET),W鮎chtheydevelopedthemselves,and thescoresontheUniversityEntranCeExamination(EnglishPart)2002,admimisteredby theUhiversityEntranCeExaminationCenter(r=･68,P<･05,andn=154)･1(HereaRer, theUniversityEntranCeE丈amination(EnglishPart)isabbreviatedastheCenterTest (CT).)Further,Maki,Ito,MiyamOtO,Oku,Uchibori,andUeda(2004)foundastrong correlationbetweenthescoresontheMETandthescoresontheCT2003(r=.72,P <.05,andn=629).Inthesetwostmeys,theyprovidedacorrelationanalysistothe scoresontheCTandthescoresontheMET.AsthesubiectstooktheCTinJanuaryand theMETbetweenAprilandJulyofthesameyear,thereisatimespanOfatleastthree monthsbetweentheadminlsteringofthetests. The purpose studyis ofthis. toinvestigate. w血etherthereis. a. statistically. slgnificantCOrrelationbetweenthescoresontheMETandthescoresonatestwhichis diffbrent丘omtheCT,butsimilartOitinitscomponents,thuscircumVentingthetime spanPrOblemmentionedabove･Forthispurpose,WeuSedtheShinken‑Examination. 2005(SE2005),andadministeredtheMETtohighschooIstudentswithinthreeweeks aftertheyhadtakentheShinken‑Examination2005･11thgradersatKamOHighSchool (agerangefrom16to17)inGifuPrefectureparticipatedinthisprqject･Throughthis survey,WefoundarelativelyhighcorrelationbetweenthescoresontheMETandthe scoresontheSE2005(r=.63,P<.05,andn=135).ThisindicatesthattheMETcould predictnotonlyaleamerIsscoreontheCT,butalsohisnlerSCOreOntheSE,tOaCertain degree･Thus,theMETis slgni丘cantcontributionsto considered suitabletomake Englishlanguageeducationevenatthehighschoollevel･ Theorganizationofthispaperisasfo1lows･Section2givesanOVerviewofthe. materials(theMinimalEnglishTest(MET)andthe Part)administeredinJulyof2005),andthe.
