Abstract
MgB2 i s e x p e c t e d t o b e u s e d i n n o ‑ h e l i u m c o n d i t i o n s t o r e p l a c e m e t a l l i c s u p e r c o n d u c t o r s t h a t a r e o p e r a t i n g i n a l i q u i d h e l i u m e n v i r o n m e n t . Low c o s t i s t h e most i m p o r t a n t a d v a n t a g e of MgB2 t o be u s e d a s a p r a c t i c a l s u p e r c o n d u c t i n g w i r e . C u r r e n t l y , t h e r e h a v e a l r e a d y b e e n p r o d u c t s u s i n g MgB2 s u p e r c o n d u c t o r , b u t t h e c o s t p e r u n i t l e n g t h a n d u n i t s u p e r c o n d u c t i n g cu
汀e n td e n s i t y of t h e s e p r o d u c t s a r e n o t s o low b e c a u s e t h e c r i t i c a l c u r r e n t p r o p e r t i e s of t h e s e MgB2 w i r e s a r e n o t h i g h enough t o o p e r a t e i n t h e e x p e c t e d c o n d i t i o n .
