Mount Fuji, the great symbol of Japan, is situated on the border of Shizuoka and Y amanashi Prefecture. It is the highest peak in Japan, standing as high as 3,776 meters.
Still classified as an active volcano, Mount Fuji is
world-famous for its perfect cone shape of unparalleled beauty. This sacred mountain has long been the object of worship among most Japanese and has inspired many artists such as the famous painter Katsushika Hokusai. Designated as a World Cultural Heritage site in 2013, it attracts millions of visitors from all over the world, including mountain climbers and holiday makers.

Kiyomizu-dera is an independent Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto, which is listed as one of the 17 World Cultural Heritage sites in Kyoto.
Priest Enchin is believed to have founded a small thatched-roofed hut to pray for Kannon
Bodhisattva in the current precinct in 778. This temple, well-known for its main hall with a large veranda jutting out over the hillside, was originally built by Sakanoue Tamuramaro in 798 and rebuilt by the third Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1633.

Kinkaku-ji is the Golden Pavilion built on the compound of the Rokuon-ji, a Z en Buddhist temple, which is designated as one of the 17 World Cultural Heritage-listed monuments in Kyoto. It is a three-story building in the garden

Hase-dera, commonly called the Hase-kannon, is one of the Buddhist temples located in Kamakura City in Kanagawa Prefecture. This temple is the fourth of the 33 stations of the Band Sanj sankasho pilgrimage circuit dedicated to

Tomioka Silk Mill is Japan’s oldest modern model silk reeling factory located in Tomioka in Gunma prefecture. It was established in 1872 by the government to introduce modern machine silk reeling from France as part of its modernization
efforts to catch up with European countries after the Meiji Restoration. Tomioka Silk Mill contributed greatly to the growth of Japan’s economy during and after World War II, but was closed in March 1987. The Minami district boasts Namba Parks, a building complex featuring a 250-tenant shopping mall, an amphitheater and a splended rooftop garden. In Osaka you can also discover the old Japan. The typical examples are Osaka Castle, Shitenno-ji Temple, one of the oldest temples in Japan, and the National Bunraku Theater, a mecca for time-honored Japanese puppet theater plays.

This town is internationally famous for Senso-ji Temple, one of the oldest temples in Japan, and Kaminari-mon, its front gate to the temple featuring a huge red paper lantern. I bet it’s an exhilarating experience to stroll along the Nakamise street, the main approach to the temple lined with 89 traditional souvenir shops.
Ken: You have a point there. But Takayama is another quaint town famous for its beautifully preserved old street, local merchants houses from the Edo Period, and Yatai Museum featuring elaborately decorated festival floats. Another tourist attraction in Takayama is Hida Folk Village, an open-air museum that exhibits many gassho-zukuri houses, or huge farmhouses with steep, thatched roofs relocated from the nearby Shirakawa-go region.
