教 育 研 究 所 所 長

本誌『教育研究』第59号は,新しい試みとして,「エビデンスに基づく教育実践と教育政 策:国内外からの視点から」というテーマを設け,特別号として刊行いたしました。私どもの 呼びかけに応えてくださった本学内外の投稿者の方々に深く感謝申し上げます。研究論文の総 括は,特別号編集者の笹尾敏明先生に譲りますが,寄せられた論文のいずれもが,各研究者の

「エビデンスに基づく教育実践」の理解を反映していると言えます。また,教育研究所の理念 にふさわしく,その領域は教育学,心理学,言語教育,言語・メディア・社会にまたがる学際 的なものであり,内容も理論的,実践的,実証的研究と多岐に渡ります。さらに,その研究手 法においても量的研究,質的研究双方を含むとともに,研究手法そのものを論じたものもあり,

本号のテーマを多角的に考察することを可能にしています。

 本号の原稿募集が行われたのは2016年 5 月のことでした。募集要項には「過去10年のグロー バリゼーションや社会政治的風潮」のコンテクストでのテーマ設定であることが述べられてい ますが,11月のアメリカ大統領選の結果をはじめとして,この社会政治的風潮が世界的に加速 している今,私どもは改めて教育の意味や力を問わなければならないと思います。教育研究所 が,そして『教育研究』がその一助となることを願ってやみません。

 最後に,本号刊行にあたり,たくさんのお役目を抱えながら,特別号編集者の労をお執りく ださった笹尾敏明先生に,心より感謝申し上げます。また,教育研究所の研究助手として,さ らには『教育研究』の編集補佐員として日々献身的にお勤めいただいている土居香央理さん,

古澤香乃さん,中嶋佳苗さん,狩野萌さんに,ここに改めて感謝の意を表します。この4名の 有能な助手の方々のお働きなしには,本号を皆さまにお届けすることはできませんでした。あ りがとうございました。

This year, the editorial board decided to publish Educational Studies, Volume 59, as a special issue under the theme of “Evidence-based Educational Practice and Policy: National and International Perspectives.” I would like to thank all of you who responded to our call for papers on this special issue, which was a new challenge for us. Our special editor, Professor Toshi Sasao, will sum up the papers, but they all reflect each researcher’s interpretation of what “evidence-based practice and policy” are. They also reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the issue focusing on education, psychology, language, media and society dealing from theoretical, practical, and experimental perspectives. Methodological approaches are both quantitative and qualitative including discussions on the methodology per se. All of the papers together enable us to pursue the issue in multiple ways.

The call for papers was announced in May 2016, which stated that the issue should be considered against the backdrop of “globalization and socio-political climates in the past decade.” With the result of American presidential election in November and socio-political climates in other areas, we are even more urged now to deliberate on the meaning and the power of education. I sincerely hope that the institute and Educational Studies will provide support in the effort.

In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Professor Toshi Sasao, who undertook the task of Guest Editor for this special issue amidst his busy schedule. My gratitude also goes to our four Research Institute Assistants, Kaori Doi, Kano Furusawa, Kanae Nakajima, and Moe Kano. Without their competence and devotion to the everyday dealings at the institute as well as their meticulous editorial work, the publication of Educational Studies, Volume 59 was not possible. I thank you all.
