2018 Urasoe City Assistant English Teacher Additional Recruitment

Guidelines

Schooling Section, Urasoe City Board of Education

1. The number of positions: A few

2. Qualification

(1) Appropriate appearance and attire for work

(2) Advanced level of English proficiency (native or near-native English speaker)

(2)-1 Please indicate English ability with the score(s) of Eiken, TOEFL or TOEIC and describe

any experience(s) of living/studying abroad on application form.

(3) [For non-native Japanese applicants] Ability to communicate in Japanese

(4) [For non-native Japanese applicants] Valid work visa

(5) Experience(s) in teaching English and/or Bachelor’s degree in teaching English

(5)-1 Teaching certificate holder preferred

(6) Citizen of Urasoe City or surrounding areas

3. Job description

(1) Support in teaching English and planning lessons (working with homeroom teachers at elementary school or Japanese teachers of English at junior high school)

(2) Preparation of teaching materials (3) Advice to English speech participants

(4) Participation in English study group at school (5) In charge of international exchange programs

(6) Any other works requested by principal or Board of Education

4. Work days and hours

6 hours a day and 5 days a week (30 hours a week in total)

5. Period of contract

April 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2019 (not to exceed 202 days)

6. Remuneration

Daily wage: ¥12,000

Daily compensation: ¥700

7. Paid leave

Annual paid leave: 10 days* Paid sick leave: 6 days*

*1 day = 6 hours (leave shall be granted in units of 30 minutes or days.)

8. Social insurance, employment insurance

Medical insurance shall be provided and monthly premiums shall be deducted from wage.

9. School lunch charge

Monthly school lunch charge is ¥4,200 for elementary school and ¥4,600 for junior high school.

10. Required documents

(1) Urasoe City Board of Education Application Form with your photo attached

(1)-1 Application Form is available at Board of Education or on our website.

(1)-2 Application must be filled out on your handwriting and submitted in person.

[For non-Japanese applicants] Both English and Japanese versions required

(2) Copy of certificate of graduation

(3) Copy of teaching certificate (if available)

(4) Letter of recommendation(written by your supervisor or school principle)

(4)-1 At least one of your recommenders must be Japanese.

* Your documents will not be returned.

11. The Application should be submitted to:

Schooling Section, Urasoe City Board of Education (7th Floor City Hall)

Time period: February 9th, 2018 to February19th, 2018, by 5pm

12. Selection procedure

(1) First stage: Screening of application documents

Selected applicants will be notified by Board of Education on our website on Wednesday, February

21 st.

(2) Second stage: Interview and trial lesson

On Friday February 23rd.

13. Please be sure that you do NOT fall under any of the following (1) to (4) before applying.

(1) Adult ward or warrantee

(2) Person scheduled to imprisonment or person who has not completed his/her sentence

(3) Public servant of Urasoe City who has been dismissed for disciplinary reasons within the past 2

years

(4) Person who, since the establishment of the Constitution of Japan, has advocated the overthrow
