The acquisition of deictic demonstratives between leaming Japanese as a
secend and as a foreign language:
The case of Taiwanese learners of Japanese

In this study, the acquisition of deictic demonstratives on learning Japanese as a second GSL) and as a foreign language gFL) [raiwaRese learners was analyzed to investigate the infiuence of learning environment on deictic demonstratives. The results of this study were the following: tke sceres of JSL were significantly higher than that of JFL. Additionally, there were more errors of ko and so in JFL than in JSL, which might be explain by the Regative transfer 丘om the s砺ects mother to黛gue and出e in鋤ence o{instruc宅童on. Moreoveちwhe焦the玉認uence of Japanese proficiency on deictic demenstrative acquisition according to learning envirenment was discussed, JSL showed high scores even though the subjects level of Japanese proficiency was low, while there were still errors iR JFL. Thus, it was suggested that studying in the target Ianguage zone might promote the acquisition of deictic demonstratives.
