F o u r t e e n  d a i r y  caws and h e i f e r s  were used t o   s t u d y   t h e   e f f e c t  o f   PGF

a l p h a   i n   t h e   i n d u c t i o n  o f  e s t r u s  and o v u l a t i o n  by i n t r a m u s c u l a r ，  i n t r a u t e r i n e  and i n t r a o v a r i a n  a e l m i n i s t r a t i o n .   A s s o c i a t e d  c h a n g e s  i n  b l o o d   serum  p r o g e s t e r o n e   and  e s t r o g e n   c o n c e n t r a t i o n s   、 ; v e r e a 1 5 0   i n v e s t i g a t e d  by r a d i o i m m u n o a s s a y .  

Within 3 d a y s  a f t e r  i n t

s c u l a ri n j e c t i o n  o f  2 5  mg  PGF

u l p h a ，  e s t r u s   and  o v u l a t i o n   were d e t e c t e d  i n  twa a n i m a l s  i n  Tr 田 臨 時 n t 1 .   Out o f   s e v e n  a n i m a l s  i n  Treatment I I ，  f o ' u r   came i n t o  e s

u sand o v u l a t e d  3  t o   5  d a y s  a f t e r  5  mg o f   PGF

a l p h a   was a d m i n i s t e r e d   by  i n
