Safety Measures
There is no margin for error when it comes to safety in health care. Hogy has acted without
fail on all instructions from MHLW: a large number of safety measures, environmental
measures and product standards that have been determined by the Ministry.
In order to re-assure Hogy customers, the healthcare professionals and their patients,
strict controls are in place at the production and distribution stages.

The Tsukuba plant aims both at a high level of safety and reliability and
at zero customer complaints through full automation with shipping
with-in four days of orderwith-ing so reducwith-ing hospital kit stocks. The already fully
automated sterilization center and distribution depot have been
con-nected to the new plant to create an integrated production and shipping
line.

ホギメディカルは、国内では徹底した機械化による生産ラ
インを確立。筑波工場には世界最大級の電子滅菌設備と、そ
れに連動する全自動物流設備を保有。2003年5月にはキッ
ト製品を中心とした自動生産工場を稼動させ、さらに2005
年11月に「オペラマスター」専用ラインを、2006年6月
には新配送センターも稼動させました。
一方、労働集約的な生産工程はインドネシアの現地子会社
「P.T.ホギインドネシア」に移管しています。これらの国内
外の生産ラインを有機的に連動させ、安全な製品の迅速かつ
安定的な供給に努めています。2007年7月にはP.T. ニッ
トウマテックスインドネシアの株式を取得（孫会社化）いた
しました。
Hogy has transferred all labor intensive production processes to the
Indonesian subsidiary, P.T. Hogy Indonesia, which has acquired all
shares of P.T. Nitto Matex Indonesia through a buy out in June 2007,
while the domestic production processes remaining in Japan have
been subject to the highest level of automation possible. The Tsukuba
Plant has the world’s largest electron beam sterilization unit and
immediately connected is a fully automated distribution depot. Also on
the site is a fully automated medical kit manufacturing plant that has
come on stream in May 2003. Furthermore, in November 2005, “Open
Master” production line, and in June 2006, new distribution center
com-menced their operations. This means that production, sterilization and
shipping can occur on a completely integrated basis so honoring the
continuing commitment to the fast and assured supply of safe products
and so ensuring the safety and lives of patients and medical staff.

The start of Hogy Medical’s efforts to prevent hospital infection was
the Mekkin Bag introduced in 1964, a simple sterilization pouch for
surgical instruments, and this has continued with the Sontara
series of
products and the new kit products.
The key thinking of Hogy R&D is to understand the actual day-to-day
requirements of medical professionals. The Mekkin Bag and the
Sontara
series have been subject to a continual process of
incremen-tal improvement based on careful study and research of the realities of

infor-mation management system marketted since
April 2004. Centered on using full-kit products, it
benefits surgeons because it helps raise
effi-ciency and save labor in the operating room
while boosting the safety of surgical procedures.
Because it eliminates the need to control
mate-rials in single units, Operamaster also
con-tributes to higher hospital operating efficiency.
On the logistics side, as well, Operamaster
enables hospitals to place orders directly to
Hogy from dedicated information terminals, for
delivery on the day before surgery-and ordered
item can be manufactured in as little as four
days. Accordingly, it helps alleviate hospitals’
inventory burdens.

“Toughponge” is a new material developed for
the rapid dressing of surgical wounds and their
disinfection. Above all, the material is safe and
has excellent fluid absorption characteristics so
assisting in the economical use of disinfectants.
It is available in a disposable cup making the
disinfection routine safer and more efficient.
滅菌用包装材には、滅菌用の蒸気やガ
スの容易な透過性とともに無菌保存のた
めのバリア性という、相反する性質が求
められます。

な素材として、独特な微細構造を持つ滅

The material of the Mekkin Bag, sterilization
pouch product, must be open to the sterilizing
steam or gas, while at the same time be
capa-ble of maintaining the contents of the pouch
sterile for long periods of time.
Hogy developed a paper with a special
micro-structure to achieve these diametrically
opposed objectives and launched this in 1964
as the “Mekkin Bag” and a major contribution
to the prevention of hospital infections. The high
sterilization characteristics and the convenience
of use caused demand to rise rapidly. The
Mekkin Bag is presently the recognized name
among sterilization pouch products.

priced steel surgical instruments to overseas
manufacturers. Also to meet the requirement to
prepare instruments in kit form for hospitals with
busy operating theaters, a sterile container tray
has been developed.

ける、戦略的な本社」を目的とし、ホギ
メディカルでは2001年に本社ビルを
建設いたしました。地階の「多目的ホー
ル」は、医療関係の方々による会議・セ
ミナーなどに優先的にご使用いただいて
おります。
また、当社のあらゆる製品・商品を集
め展示した「ショールーム」を設置し、
顧客の皆様が当社の製品・商品をより深
くご理解いただくための場を提供。コミ
ニュケーションの拡大を図り、顧客の
ニーズに的確にお応えするため、有効活
用しております。
Hogy built a new Head Office building in 2001
designed to be a strategic headquarters for
assisting medical professionals. There is a
multi-purpose hall which is used for health care
professional conferences and seminars on a
priority basis.
A showroom has been provided that
demon-strates the entire Hogy catalog of products for
customer information purposes. It is a
practica-ble and effective way of improving
communica-tions and being able to understand and answer
customer requirements promptly.
