Job announcement for instructor position at the Center for Teaching, Learning and Career Development (Global Education Center), Iwate University
1. Purpose
The Global Education Center was established in April 2015 as part of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Career Development (CTLCD) of Iwate University. Based on Iwate University philosophy, the center promotes university-wide global education by planning and running various international educational programs in
coordination with different departments. Global education seeks to cultivate "globally-aware people working for local revitalization." Such people have the ability to address local issues from a global perspective.
The center is now recruiting a full-time in-house instructor for further organizational reinforcement based on the job description below.
2. Responsibilities
(1) Evaluate students' English abilities and validate or improve the effects of education
(2) Support and coordinate the implementation of global education programs at different departments (3) Manage education technology (e.g. LMS) for university-wide English courses
(4) Teach English courses and global education courses (in English) (5) Contribute to the administration of CTLCD

5. Term of office
The term of office is five years with no reappointment (or the last day of the term will be the first March 31st
after the applicant turns 65 years of age).
*Regulations concerning the term of employment for Iwate University instructors prescribe that after completing the term, if, after appropriate evaluation, the university deems it necessary to renew the contract, instructors can renew their employment without a fixed-term.

Compensation, based on National University Corporation Iwate University Rules on Conditions of Employment for Staff Members, shall be by annual salary, of which one-twelfth of the annual salary shall be paid each month.
7. Qualifications
(1) Has experience in the work listed in “2. Responsibilities” and interest and passion for reforming university education.
(2) Has a Master's degree or higher in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Education and educational capabilities suitable for engaging in university education.
(3) Has the necessary Japanese and English language proficiency for performing the job.
(4) Has international experiences including studying or working abroad and academic knowledge of multi-cultural or cross-multi-cultural matters.
(5) Preferably has experience in computerizing education using ICT (information and communications technologies) and practicing electronic education.
