Urayasu City is offering disaster prevention radios, which can receive transmissions of disaster prevention radio system broadcasts (announcements made over outdoor speakers). These radios make it possible to clearly receive announcements from the city, so if you have trouble hearing the broadcasts over the outdoor speakers, please consider buying a radio in case of a disaster.
Please note that while the radio cannot receive disaster prevention radio system broadcasts if you move out of the city, it can be used as a regular AM/FM radio.

With Revisions to the
Child Rearing Allowance
Act, Eligibility Will Be
Expanded
Until now, those who received a public pension (bereaved family pension, disabled person’s pension, elderly pension, casualty pension, bereaved family compensation, etc.) were not eligible to receive the child rearing allowance. However, those whose pension amount is lower than the child rearing allowance amount can now receive the difference as an allowance beneit.
An allowance is provided to the mother, father, or guardian (person raising the child on behalf of the parents) who is taking care of a child for whom any of the following conditions apply until the first March 31 after the child reaches 18 years of age (until 20 years of age for a child with a disability categorized as being middle-level or higher).
Note: Income restrictions apply. ●Child rearing allowance is for:
• A child whose parents have divorced and who no longer lives with the father or the mother.
• A child whose father or mother has died. • A child whose father or mother has a
se-rious disability (Level 1 Disability of the National Pension Act)
• A child for whom it is not clear whether the father or the mother is dead or alive. • A child whose father or mother has
aban-doned the family for one year or longer. • A child whose father or mother has
re-ceived protection orders from the cour t against violence from a spouse.
• A child whose father or mother has been in-carcerated by law continuously for one year or longer.
• A child who was born out of wedlock. • A child for whom conditions when born
other than those mentioned above are not clear.
●Examples of New Recipients under the Recent Revisions
• Grandparents who are raising a child and receive a low amount of elderly pension. • A single-father household whose child
re-ceives only a low amount of bereaved family pension.
• A single-mother household in which the father passed away after the divorce and the child receives only a low amount of be-reaved family pension.
Note: The allowance benefits begin for the month after the application is made (depending on when the application was made, only a par tial sum may be paid on the first month). However, of those who
were not able to receive a child rearing allowance because they received a public pension, if eligibility requirements are fulilled by December 1, 2014, and an application is iled by March 2015, then allowances can be received for the por tion from December 2014.
(If an application is iled in or after April 2015, then allowances will begin from the month after the application is iled.) The allowance for the portions from December 2014 through March 2015 will be paid in April 2015. Please call for more information.
