講義目的及び到達目標 This seminar aims to provide knowledge of analytical tools needed for research in econ omics and money- finance related topics. The course is also a preparation step for the next research seminar and thesis seminar through which students are expected to grad ually develop the ability to apply their obtained knowledge and analytic skills to under stand and to complete their graduation thesis on economic and financial issues and de bates such as Abenomics, zero interest rate policy, and economic growth and developm ent.
講義内容・授業計画 In the second semester, we will select from the following suggested but not mandatory topics of interest:
I. National Income Accounting and the Balance of Payments
II. Exchanges Rates and the Foreign Exchange Market: An Asset Approach III. Money, Interest Rates, and Exchange Rates
IV. Price Level and the Exchange Rate in the Long Run
V. Fixed Exchange Rates and the Foreign Exchange Intervention VI. International Monetary Systems: An Historical Overview
Students then read textbooks and related references, actively participate in the semina r and present assigned topics. The instructor will provide necessary lectures about rela ted topics and guidance of how to do research and to write thesis.

備考 Students are strongly encouraged to write a graduation thesis, which will be very usefu l for their future careers and particularly for further study at a graduate school. The course will be conducted in English and it may be conducted online in 2021.
