BRIEF BIOGRAPHIES OF THE AUTHORS
Professor A. Uwiyono
Professor Uwiyono is Professor of Labor Law at the University of Indonesia. He is research areas include Legal Aspects of Indonesian Migrant Workers, The Role of Labor Law in the Globalization Era, and The Right to Strike in Indonesia. He is the author of numerous books and a regular speaker at workshops and seminars on labor issues and law.

P ofessor Agus Sardjono
Professor Sardjono is a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia. His primary area of research is Indonesian Intellectual Property Law where he has been actively involved since 1989. His research has provided an opportunity to study the IPR systems of many other countries and jurisdictions such as Japan, Italy, Switzerland, and the USA. Together with fellow researchers from American University, New York University, Cambridge University, and NGO’s, he conducts research on IPR and Traditional Cultural Expression in many regions throughout Indonesia. He has published books on Intellectual Property Laws and Traditional Knowledge. He is also the author of numerous papers on IP as well.
Dr. Anna Erlyana
Dr. Erlyana is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia and University Pelita Harapan. Her Doctoral Degree was completed at the University of Indonesia. Her current research and teaching areas include Administrative Law, Administrative Court Procedural Law, and Human Rights. She is the author of the book “A Practical Guide to Administrative Court Proceedings; Presidential Decrees, Presidential Decree Analyses 1987-1998.”
Dr. Benny K. Harman
Dr. Harman is a lawyer at the Law Office of Abdul Hakim Nusantara & Partners. He obtained his Doctorate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia in 2006. In 1999 he co-founded Lembaga Pengkajian dan Advokasi Independensi Peradilan (LeIP) to advocate the strengthening of Judicial Power in order to support democracy. He has written numerous articles and papers on human rights issues and
democracy. He serves as a member of Parliament for the period 2004 – 2009.
Professor Hikmahanto Juwana
Professor Hikmahanto is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia. He obtained his LL.B from the University of Indonesia, his LL.M from Keio University in Japan, and his Ph.D from the University of Nottingham in England. He specializes in International and Indonesian Law. He serves as an advisor to various governmental agencies, such as the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Law and Human Rights, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Trade.

Presently, an Overseas Senior Researcher, Institute of Developing Economies/JETRO and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia (2006-2008) in Jakarta. He has been researching and teaching on Asian law and Asian environmental law. He is the author of numerous books and articles in this area of the law and is a regular participant in seminars, workshops, meetings, and other activities regarding environmental law.
Dr. Rifqi S. Assegaf
Rifqi is the Executive Director of the Indonesian Institute for Judicial Independence (Lembaga Kajian untuk Independensi Peradilan / LeIP). He has been engaged in judicial reform activities since 1999. Some of these activities include assisting the Supreme Court in developing the Judicial Reform Blueprints, drafting bills related to judicial issues, and developing competency standards for the judiciary, among many others. In 2004 he was appointed to the Judicial Reform Team established by the Supreme Court and he continues to work in this capacity.
