若手研究者がこれからの研究人生をしっかりと歩むためには、研究の専門性を高めるだけで なく、キャリアの節目で適切なコンピテンシー(資質・能力)を自分自身がどれほど身につ けているのか見極めることが重要です。本ワークショップでは、英国アカデミアの研究者能 力開発に携わること 50 年以上の歴史を受け継ぐ団体「Vitae」が生み出した「Researcher Development Framework(RDF)」と呼ばれるツールを使って、ワールドクラスの研究者に求 められる 63 のコンピテンシーについて自己分析を行い、他の参加者とともに自分自身を振 り返ります。あなたが抱く理想のキャリア実現にむけて、あなたにどのようなコンピテンシー が重要となるのか発見することができ、今後の将来展望に役立つことでしょう。

Dr. Janet Metcalfe,

the Head of Vitae

Dr Janet Metcalfe is the Head of Vitae, committed to providing world-class career and professional development for researchers. She is responsible for the strategic direction of Vitae and leads on the implementation of the UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers. She is an experienced trainer and has previously delivered Preparing for academic leadership at Kyoto University and at other universities in Japan. Janet is a member of the European Commission's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Advisory Group and the Royal Society Diversity Committee.

Her publications include the What Do PhDs Do? and What do researchers do? series of publications exploring the landscape of researchers careers and impact, including Doctoral graduate destinations and impact three years on . Her latest publication is What do research staff do next?, on the career paths of research staff who leave European universities to work in other employment sectors and occupations.

プログラム

During the session, participants will identify what a successful career looks like to them and how they can develop their competencies towards achieving their career goals.

This training session will support researchers in their career development by exploring the value of professional development planning, how to undertake it, and the tools to support it. Researchers will learn about the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF) and how to effectively employ the RDF Planner as the foundation for their career development.

The format of the training will be information, discussion and activities, including experience of practical tools, that will allow them to reflect on their current competencies and effectively plan for their future professional and career development.

Objectives based on the RDF

• identify what is important for a successful

career

• have self-awareness and the ability to identify

own development needs

• appreciate the need for and show commitment

to continuing professional development

• develop and be able to maintain a record of

achievement and experience

• takes ownership for and manage own career

progression, to set realistic and achievable career

goals

• learn how to use the Vitae RDF Planner online
