Ⅶ Suspension of Public Transportation Services, Typhoon Warnings, Emergency Warning, Class / Examination Schedule Changes
When public transportation services are suspended, a typhoon warning, or on emergency warning is issued, class and examination schedules will be changed according to the following criteria.
1. Suspension of Public Transportation Services (for all reasons) (1) Time of service resumption and classes / examinations start time

2. Typhoon Warning (heavy rain warning is excluded) and Emergency Warning
As noted on the Doshisha website, classes will be cancelled when a typhoon warning or an emergency warning is issued.
Please always pay attention to the updated weather information.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) launched the Emergency Warning System on August 30th, 2013. Emergency warnings are issued to alert people to the significant likelihood of catastrophes in association with natural phenomena of extraordinary magnitude.
The issuance of an emergency warning for an area indicates a level of exceptional risk of a magnitude observed only once every few decades. Residents should pay attention to their surroundings and relevant information such as municipal evacuation advisories and orders, and should take all measures necessary to protect life.
When an emergency warning is issued while students are on campus, they should follow the directions provided by the University, or while students are on the way to the University, they should take all measures necessary to protect life.
When warning is withdrawn, classes and examinations start according to the time the warning was withdrawn. Refer to the chart on the next page “(2) Time of withdrawal of warning and classes / examinations start time.” If situation does not fit the description on the chart, we will make decision case by case and announce the decision.
(If a warning was withdrawn before 06:30am, classes will start as usual.)

Sub-prefecture Region 1:
Classes and examinations are cancelled when a typhoon warning or an emergency warning is issued for Kyoto Nambu (south side of Kyoto) or Osaka.
Sub-prefecture Region 2:
Classes and examinations are cancelled when a typhoon warning or an emergency warning is issued for any of Kyoto- Kameoka, Nantan, Yamashiro Chubu, Yamashiro Nambu, Osaka-shi, Kita Osaka, Tobu Osaka, Minami Kawachi or Senshu.
■ Since May 27, 2010, weather warnings and advisories have been issued for each individual municipality*.
Accordingly, decision on class and examination cancellations shall be made as follows.
*Some TV and radio programs may continue to use the name of region comprising several municipalities for announcing warnings and advisories as in the past.
Regarding the above Sub-prefecture Region 2 categorization, Kyoto-Kameoka, Nantan, Yamashiro Chubu, Yamashiro Nambu, Osaka-shi, Kita Osaka, Tobu Osaka, Minami Kawachi, Senshu, classes and examinations are cancelled when a typhoon warning or an emergency warning is issued for any of the municipalities listed below.
