8. Conclusion
8.2 Future works
This dissertation has presented a novel process for underwater plasma discharge for wastewater treatment, however a lot of questions still remain to be answered. The following is an overview of future work that would provide further insight into the ACAP process.
a) Experiments with shorter electrodes distance to keep needle electrode totally submerged in cavitation zone and with lower ultrasound power should be performed in order to achieve lower energy consumption and probably more obvious synergistic effects.
b) Investigation on expanding cavitation zone and further improvement in the mass transfer in circulatory reactor should be undertaken.
c) Injection of gas into cavitation zone may greatly improve the efficiency of cavitation-assisted plasma treatment. Such an effect should be verified experimentally.

Acknowledgement
Time flies so fast. I still remember the day that I came to my lab first time in three and a half years ago.
It is a wonderful time for me to studying in the Komarov laboratory, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University. At this moment, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who gave me supports on my research and life during my studying time in Japan.
First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge my supervisor Professor Sergey Komarov for steering me through this grueling journey with his encouragement, advice and supports. My Ph.D. researches would not have been completed without his virtuous guidance. With the help of Professor Komarov on preparing application documents in early 2015, I could finally get the sponsoring of Chinese Scholarship Council and made my trip to Japan. I have learned from him not only how to perform and interpret experiments but also how to think and move the research forward. I also sincerely appreciate his support and encouragement on me to attend national and international conferences, and his patient help on my academic paper writing, which have increased my confidence and achieved my records in this research field. Professor Komarov also gave me many helps on my life in Japan, just like a father, with a patient and kind guidance. Some memories of our talks still, and will give me strength, to explore my future life.
I am also deeply indebted to Associate Professor Noboru Yoshikawa and Assistant Professor Takuya Yamamoto for their fundamental and invaluable direction, guidance and assistance. Their exceptional insights into scientific experiment and engineering have immensely helped me to enrich my knowledge. Assistant Professor Takuya Yamamoto has given great helps on my research with numerical simulation, and we had a really great time since he came to the Komarov Lab.
Special appreciation is given to my dissertation committee, Professor Kasai, Professor Wagatsuma and Professor Shibata for their brilliant ideas sharing their knowledge of technology related to the topic of this thesis with me, and finally achieved better work on this research. I’m honored to have this opportunity to get the comments from them.
I would also express my gratitude to Mr. Daiki Hariu, Ms. Sayaka Shimizu for their great helps on conducting experiments and works on experiments data. Ms. Shimizu was the first undergraduate student who
