MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD, FISHERIES AND RURAL AFFAIRS (MAAPAR)
The MAAPAR organizes technical cooperation activities in the fields of geographical indications and plant varieties. Assistance activities mostly form part of agricultural and agri-food technical cooperation under agreements signed between the Ministry and the authorities of other countries. The Directorates-General in charge of customs and the suppression of fraud, the bodies reporting to the Ministry of Agriculture and professional and joint-trade groups are also involved.
In accordance with their respective areas of competence, these government departments and bodies take part in technical cooperation activities conducted by international organizations, in particular the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO), and in those organized by other French government departments, in connection more specifically with geographical indications. They are also involved in the EC's PHARE, TACIS and TAIEX programmes and activities.
