Toward an Improvement of English Grammar for Learners,

with Reference to Articles

TAKAHASHI Yasuo

Abstract

This paper attempts to develop an efficient grammar for learners, with special reference to articles. Although English articles have been studied extensively, it is difficult to say if, from an educational viewpoint, the results of these inquiries have been applied to education. We examined one of the most promising studies, done by Kono and Takami (2004), which presents what we think as an ideal grammar for learners, and pointed out some of its deficiencies.
