The following submission guidelines for The Bulletin of Chuo Academic Research Institute have been established.
1.The Bulletin is published once a year, on November 15, in principle.
2. Any contributor who has been granted approval by the director of the Chuo Academic Research Institute may submit a paper.
3. In principle, all manuscripts submitted should be: ⑴ academic papers, ⑵ research notes, ⑶ translations, ⑷ research reports or ⑸ material that has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
⑴ Academic papers: 1) Papers should be focused on research concerning religion, including a wide range of thought, cultures and science.
2) Research concerning teaching religions, rituals, missionary work or the history of religious organizations.
⑵ Research notes: Notes similar to academic papers that contain valuable views and opinions.
⑶ Translations: Similar to academic papers.
⑷ Research reports: Research reports on research activities related to the Chuo Academic Research Institute. (Reports should contain not only the progress made in establishing facts, but should also have intellectual value.)
⑸ Material: Research results are summarized in reports about material that has been established.
4. The decision on acceptance of submitted manuscripts shall be made by the director of the Chuo Academic Research Institute.
5. The number of words of ⑴ academic papers, ⑵ research notes and ⑷ research reports of manuscripts submitted is specified as follows:
Approximately 6,400 words in English.
However, the number of words in Notes and References is not included in the above number of words.
6. The number of words of ⑶ translations and ⑸ materials of manuscripts submitted varies

7. In principle, the contributor shall submit manuscripts in two files, one in Microsoft Word and one in PDF formats.
8.No payment shall be made for manuscripts submitted, in principle.
9. Three copies of the Bulletin in which manuscripts are compiled and 30 copies of reprinted articles will be presented to the contributor.
10. The copyright of each manuscript compiled in the Bulletin is owned by the author (contributor). The Bulletin is a compilation of the Chuo Academic Research Institute. 11. The contributor shall grant approval to the Chuo Academic Research Institute for posting
manuscripts submitted on the official website of the Chuo Academic Research Institute. 12.Guidelines for writing the Bulletin shall be separately established.
13. Items other than these Guidelines shall be approved by the director of the Chuo Academic Research Institute after consultation with the contributor.

Pursuant to Submission Guidelines for The Bulletin of Chuo Academic Research Institute, Guidelines for Writing shall be established as follows:
1.Manuscripts of submission
⑴ If an item name or heading is provided, pay attention to overall consistency. ⑵ Avoid using discriminatory terms, offensive terms or libelous matter. 2.Specified matters when submitting manuscripts
⑴ Categories of academic papers, research notes, research reports, translations or materials
⑵ Title and the title in English (if the title is in another language) ⑶ Table of contents
⑷ For translations, original author s name, original book title, publisher and the year of publication
⑸ Title of the author used when posting
⑹ In case of multiple authors, the first author is responsible for manuscripts. ⑺ Contact
3.Manuscript submission
⑴ Staff members of the Institute (members of the Laboratory), research members and other individuals analogous to the foregoing shall receive guidance and advice from specialist researchers in advance. (Consultation shall be provided as to remuneration for receiving guidance.)
⑵ If there is any issue related to publishing rights associated with reprinting or copyright of photos and illustrations, manuscripts shall be submitted after obtaining the prior consent of copyright owners.
4.Text
⑴ In principle, the text of the manuscript shall be written horizontally in Japanese or in English.
⑵ For punctuation, commas (,) and full stops (.) shall be used. ⑶ Write ruby characters above the corresponding text.
⑷ As a general rule, Arabic numerals shall be used.
Guidelines for Writing for
other expressions are used, the notation below shall be followed. Example: 2013 (Heisei 25)
*1 Kanji (Chinese characters) designated for daily use shall be used. (This does not apply to proper nouns in old character form used in citations or used commonly.)
*2 For handwritten manuscripts, draw a line under the words where the Japanese is written in Gothic type and add notes“G.” Draw a line in red under the section where non-Japanese other than kanji is written in italics.
5.Style of notes
⑴ Citation numbers of notes in the text of the manuscript shall be indicated by raised numerals smaller than the text, as follows: example1
⑵ As a general rule, notes shall be numbered serially and placed together at the end of each section or at the end of the text.
6.References
References shall be based on the following notation:
⑴ Books written in Japanese: author, title of the book, publisher, year of publication, page(s) cited Example: 天野恭佑『慈悲の生涯』、冬樹社、1971年、pp.178 200。 同上、一七九頁。 歴史学研究会編『アジア現代誌』第3巻、青木書店、1980年、pp.12 13。 天野恭佑前掲書、p.180。
Books in a language other than Japanese: author (family name in small caps, given name in lower case), book title, publisher, year of publication, page(s) cited
Example:

⑵ For journals and bulletins,
Japanese articles: author, title of the article, name of the journal or bulletin, volume number, publisher, year of publication, page(s) cited
Example:

Articles written in a language other than Japanese: author (last name in small caps), title of the article, editor author (last name in small caps), book title, place of

95. 7.Figures and tables.
⑴ Title figures and tables and number them serially for each section. If there is only one figure or table in a section, omit serial numbers.
⑵ Place the title under figures and above tables.
⑶ Quote the origin and source of figures and tables in accordance with the above section “References”.
8.Proofreading
⑴ As a general rule, the author may do up to the second proof. The third proof (finishing proofreading) shall be done by an editor of our Institute.
⑵ As a general rule, the document is not revised by the second proof. END
