We have changed the event date to February 2019!

The next Astoria Investor Forum will take place on February 19

th

& 20

th

. With it we are more in sync with the

period for budget planning process of many LPs in Japan for investment in FY 2019.

Who will attend?

It will be attended by three types of people:

1)  asset managers who are licensed in Japan or local/international gatekeepers;

2)  financial institutional investors who are balance sheet investors; and

3)  pension investors who hire the asset managers.

These three types of investors will constitute approximately 2/3 of the audience.

More compact and intimate than before to promote more active dialogues among attendants

You will find a combination of roundtable workshops and panel sessions in February. At our roundtable we

will showcase

One Ideas

from speakers/sponsors followed by interactive Q&A and debating between

panelists and the speakers. Panel sessions during the day will be larger in scale than the roundtable

workshops, and will be simultaneously translated for audience with much wider investment experiences on

Day 1.

AIF Japan Seminar, a short seminar with a focus on domestic markets, will be organized in the afternoon of

Day 2. All speeches and discussions are conducted in Japanese (no translation provided)

You will be in the driver’s seat to design the next event with us

As always we will be constructing the event program jointly with our sponsors/speakers and local asset

management experts. I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Hal Morimoto, Organizer & Host

Objective:

•

This segment of the event is geared towards all classes of investors with a wide range of

investor experiences & sophistications. We expect locally licensed Discretionary Investment

Managers (DIMs) and financial institutional investors to attend in this session as well.

Our suggestion for Speakers/Sponsors:

This segment is ideal for discussing market trends by inviting multiple fund managers into

a panel session to share their views.

Objective:

•

This segment of the event will be focused on investing in Japan (with JPY denominated

funds). The target audience here includes DIMs as well as general balance sheet investors

with primary interest in JPY based assets.

Our Suggestions for Speakers/Sponsors:

This segment is ideal for discussing market trends of Japan by inviting multiple fund

managers into a panel session to share their views.

Premium Sessions (Day 1) Simultaneous Translation Provided in English <-> Japanese

AIF Japan Seminar (Day 2) on Domestic Assets - No Translation Provided

This segment of the event takes on a familiar looking Panel Session format where a line-up of

speakers presides in front of medium to large scale audience. Each session will have a sponsor

who will work with Astoria to develop the educational contents and a speaker line-up of each

session for our investor audience. The sponsor company may act as a moderator or as a member

of panelists.

o  At the Premium Sessions on Day 1, we expect larger and broader range of investor audience.

The conference venue will be equipped with simultaneous translation (En-Jp) to assist

communications.

o  The AIF Japan Seminar on Day 2 will be a slightly casual event than the main event with a

greater focus on domestic assets with a smaller group of investor audience. The entire

program will be conducted in Japanese. The conference venue will NOT be equipped with

simultaneous translation.

How Roundtable Works

What do we mean by

One Idea

at the roundtable workshop?

For as long as we can remember limited partners of the world have held the views that there is

“too much money chasing too few deals” in private capital markets. Yet, history tells us that

market will continue to evolve and new opportunities will be created by innovative fund

managers to put more money to work.

Astoria Investor Forum (AIF2019) invites thought leaders in the industry to discuss this evolving

nature of the private capital markets. LPs and asset managers who come to the AIF2019 are here

to learn about

finding solutions on “Too Much Money Chasing Too Few Deals”

this year.

•

Each roundtable is attended by a moderator and 8 (to 10) panelists

•

Astoria will invite a moderator (most likely be a Japanese asset manager) and panelists

•

Each roundtable is subdivided to 3 of 30' sessions where a

One Idea

presentation is given by a

presenter/panelist in each segment

•

Each

One Idea

presentation will be followed by comments and Q&A from the members of the panel

•

The recommended length of the

One Idea

presentation is for 7 minutes

•

Presenters may wish to supplement additional slides to be used during the segment

•

Each presenter shall prepare a draft structure and discussion scenario for the moderator prior to the

event

•

All discussions will be conducted in English

•

Astoria expects up to 80 people to participate in the roundtable - the mix of audience are likely be

more professional investors than regular panel sessions

Preparing you for the Roundtable Workshop:

Description of

One Idea

in one paragraph (4 Weeks to the Event):

A one paragraph summary of your

One Idea

will be posted on the event website. Registered delegates will also

receive email alert with the updated descriptions from roundtable presenters.

Description of

One Idea

prepared in Word text (2 Weeks to the Event):

We suggest the length of the Word text should be less than 3 pages in A4 size paper. You may wish to include some

graphic images from your presentation materials in the Word file for additional clarity. We also request you prepare

a draft structure and discussion scenario for your session moderator.

Three things will happen soon after the receipt of your Word text:

•

Astoria will forward the information to the moderator as well as all members of the panelists in your

roundtable session

•

A PDF version of the Word file will also be posted on our event website at the same time

•

All registered delegates will receive email alert with a link to download the information from our website – this

will be used to familiarize roundtable attendants about the key message in your speech prior to the event & to

be used by LPs to create a post-conference report afterwards

Your slide deck on the

One Idea

presentation (1 Week to the Event):

As explained above, you will be presenting the

One Idea

in 7 minutes at first. Following the initial presentation, the

session moderator will solicit panelists to ask questions or give comments back to you. If you have additional slides

to support your case, this will be the time to introduce such materials.

With your permission, your slide decks will be made available to registered attendants from our website for

download after the February conference.

We request all requested materials to be sent to Astoria at:
