(5)

What is KR CYBERTECH?

KUKA is introducing new robots in the low payload category: the KR CYBERTECH.

The KR CYBERTECH consists of two series: KR CYBERTECH series and KR CYBERTECH nano series.

The market launch is being carried out in three stages and represents the world’s largest range of models in this payload category with the greatest power density.

With specialized process robots for handling and continuous-path applications and high-

performance multifunctional robots for other applications, e.g. machining, the KR CYBERTECH covers a wide range of potential applications.

The KR CYBERTECH range offers the right robot for every application and ensures that our customers receive the best possible process results, planning security and security of investment – with KUKA as partner.

(6)

What does KR CYBERTECH stand for?

CYBERNETICS = “cybernetics is the theory pertaining to the regulation and control of dynamic systems”

CYBER = “navigating perfectly in space”

TECHNOLOGY = “technology is the science of the technical transformation of raw materials to finished products”

KR CYBERTECH

(7)

Why was the KR CYBERTECH developed?

Expansion of the portfolio

Diversification of the existing portfolio in two separate, optimized series: additional robots with reaches from 1,420 mm and payload capacities of up to 22 kg.

Cost optimization

Optimization of manufacturing costs to ensure long-term competitiveness.

Increased compactness

Increased integration density and reduced disruptive contours.

Improved motion characteristics

Optimized controller structures for smooth and delicate motion characteristics on the path and during positioning.

Small-scale controller

Support for the KUKA KR C4 compact and KR C4 smallsize controllers.

KR CYBERTECH: Marketing campaign slogan Reinvented.

This slogan is being used to present the further-developed KR CYBERTECH series at the Robotics Show 2015 in Shanghai.

This is because KUKA has “redefined” or “reinvented” its portfolio in the low payload range.

“Reinvented” is thus an apt term for heralding this product launch.

It also reflects the “KUKA factor” (motor of innovation, inventive spirit, competitive edge, service concepts, etc.).

KR CYBERTECH nano series: Flexible installation

All robots of the KR CYBERTECH nano series can be flexibly floor-, wall-or ceiling-mountedor even installed at a certain angle. No mechanical adaptation is required for this.

As standard, all robots are supplied for floor-mountedinstallation.

The configuration of the other installation types is always carried out during start-up using KUKA.WorkVisual. The precise procedure is described in the documentation.

Advantages: The installation type does not need to have been determined at the time of ordering; fewer replacement machines are required, resulting in a more cost-effective failure strategy;

high flexibility for integration in cells

Customer benefits: Flexibility in robot operation; planning security and cost savings in cell design and failure strategy

(55)

What is the benefit?

Improved pose accuracy No effect on the repeatability

Positionally accurate for what?

- Offline programming - Tool changing

- Exchange of robots

How is this achieved?

- Optical calibration of additional points with maximum load applied to parameter set

- Axis deviations and deviations in center distances, tolerances and gear elasticity are mathematically minimized in the robot model

With which robots is this possible?

- Available for all robots in the KR CYBERTECH nano series - Only available for the installation variants floor and ceiling

- A selection (floor or ceiling) must be made before the robot is ordered

KR CYBERTECH nano series: Servicing & maintenance

Oil

chambers

Lubricants

Cable set

Oil chambers sealed on motor side

Advantages:

Simple exchange of motors

Competitors frequently use open gear units, which makes it more difficult to exchange the motor during servicing as the lubricant chambers are sealed by the motor.

Customer benefits:

Simple handling, as no lubricant needs to be drained and refilled Cost savings, as less time required

(59)

KR CYBERTECH nano series: Servicing & maintenance

Oil chambers

Lubricants

Cable set

Integrated lubricant concept & no oil change until after 20,000 hours

Advantages:

Low-maintenance system with high availability and low follow-up costs

During maintenance, only one lubricant needs changing.

The use of oil rather than grease makes it possible to change the lubricant completely.

Competitors often use different types of lubricant (oils & greases) and multiple (up to 3) immiscible lubricants.

Customer benefits:

Avoidance of errors

Cost savings due to reduced storage of consumables and simple exchange

(60)

KR CYBERTECH nano series: Servicing & maintenance

Oil chambers

Lubricants

Cable set

Maintenance-free, shielded robot cable set

Advantages:

Low-maintenance system with high availability and low follow-up costs

Some competitors specify an exchange of the robot cable set after 13,820 hours or 4 years.

The cable set is shielded as standard and does not result in additional costs for customers in the case of processes with high EMC radiation, e.g. TIG welding.

A shielded cable set from our competitors is often an optional extra that is subject to payment.

Customer benefits:

Investment and maintenance cost savings due to lower follow-up costs

Controller: Controller variants & external axes

Standard scope of supply

KR C4 compact (230 V)

2 external axes (230 V)

Option

KR C4 smallsize-2 (400 V)

6 external axes (400 V)

The KR CYBERTECH nano series can be operated exclusively with the existingKR C4 compact or the new KR C4 smallsize-2 controller. Both controllers are also used for the KR AGILUS.

(62)

Space-saving. Compact control cabinet with protection rating IP54 for up to 6 axes. The KR C4 smallsize-2 has additional space for integration of customer options with corresponding interfaces on the side.

Safe. All axes can be limited in their motion range using safe technology, monitored for operational stop or completely switched off. Furthermore, with Safe Operation, the workspace of the robot can be divided into up to 16 freely configurable and switchable Cartesian spaces.

Simple. The engineering tool WorkVisual allows simple configuration of the robots, technology, safety and the entire periphery of your system.

Energy-efficient. Highly efficient control of all axes in the system is assured by means of state-of-the-art servo and drive technology. Furthermore, the new energy management system of the KR C4 smallsize allows the energy consumption of the controller to be reduced by up to 95% in standby mode.

All-rounder. Safety, Robot, Logic and MotionControl – the KR C4 smallsize-2 combines everything in a single controller.

And allows effortless control of the entire system.

Communication talent. In addition to its own robot language KRL, the KR C4 smallsize-2 also understands the language of the CNC machining world (G-code) and the language of PLCs, enabling it to communicate directly with your SIEMENS® or Rockwell® controller, for example.

Robustness. The consistent choice of durable components and the well-designed cabinet ensure long-term, reliable operation, even under extreme conditions.
