忙しい留学生や外国人研究者たちが週 1～3 回日本語を学ぶためのコースで、初級から上級までの 各クラスのほか、「漢字」「中級会話」などのクラスもあります。

This course meets in one to three sessions per week, so as to accommodate international students' busy schedules. The course includes general classes taught at different levels ranging from elementary to advanced, and classes focused on specific skill areas, such as kanji and intermediate conversation.

Offering elementary to upper-intermediate classes, this course is designed for students who are able to devote a large portion of their time to Japanese language learning. Since the purpose of the course is to significantly improve language skills in a short period, participants are expected to attend every lesson.

大部分のコースは、東大の留学生ならば、所定の期間に申し込めば、誰でも受講できます。

・ 一部、選考があるコースもあります。

・ コースによっては、留学生以外の外国人研究者や、留学生・研究者の配偶者も受講することができます。 Most courses can be taken by any international student at the University of Tokyo, provided that application is made within the specified period.

・ Some courses require applicants to take a selection test.

・ In addition, some courses are also open to foreign researchers other than international students, as well as the spouses of international students/researchers.

Very good speaking practice, good explanations of grammar, the chosen topics (e.g. at the shop, how to book a hotel) are very useful in daily life.

[Level 1]

When I first came here I could barely speak and was not happy at all. After I started taking this course, I became more familiar with the Japanese language and started to be able to speak with Japanese people. My advisor and senpais, also officers of my department office, were all happy to speak with me and encourage me to continue studying. The course materials and mode of teaching was very useful for beginners like me. I appreciated the efforts of the senseis to try and teach us everything necessary for daily life.
