講義目的及び到達目標 The main purpose of this course is to give students opportunities to use and improve t heir overall English abilities, especially in speaking and listening through conversation s and discussions. There will also be reading to do outside of class to prepare for quizz es and for the activities in the next class.
講義内容・授業計画 This course will be entirely in English. All materials and speaking and writing and teac hing will be in English. Some of the classes will require students to read and write for h omework, and then to speak about and ask and answer questions about the homework in class. Students will read, have conversations and discussions, and ask and answer qu estions about other topics in the other classes. -- Good attendance, well done homewor k, and active participation in classwork are expected. -- Translation is not part of this c ourse.

成績評価の基準・方法 Students will be evaluated based on their participation in class (50%) and their homew ork (50%). Continual use of Japanese in class will result in a very low final grade. 履修上の注意・履修要件 Students who take this course should want to speak, read, write, listen, and study in En
glish. They should be motivated to actively participate in class and to do the required h omework.
This class is scheduled to be conducted in person on campus. However, depending on t he number of students enrolled, as a measure against coronavirus infection, the studen ts may need to be divided into classrooms which are connected online, or the students may need to take classes online from home every other week. Therefore, students will need to arrange for an Internet environment using a PC or tablet, Wi-Fi, etc. The final d ecision about this will be made after registration is completed, and students will be not ified about any changes at that time.
