Obviously, this letter concerns the Japan part! There are Dr. Harry Keys

guchi-san at ERI later in the project, but we would very much welcome participation by Japanese students and sci-entists sooner than that, hopefully this summer. The pro-: : ject involves a geochemical, seismic, and geodetic compar-: ison of Bezymianny and Shiveluch Volcanoes in Kamchat-ka and Mount St Helens in the US all of which underwent sector collapse followed by explosive and then e usive eruption We have installed extensive monitoring equip-ment at Bezymianny and are assembling and studying a Dr. Harry Keys complete sample suite. For students, we o er classesin Russian culture, history, and language in Kamchatka and a ﬁeld seminar at Mount St Helens.
