Quick Start Guide
This document describes the hardware and software installation of the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. For more information, refer to the Installation and Application CD.

NOTE: If you have an HP Workstation xw8000 or xw6000, you must contact HP support to order the
correct front panel adapter cable because the adapter cable in this kit does not support an HP Workstation xw8000 or xw6000. If your system is under warranty, the adapter cable will be provided to you free of charge.
■ For the HP Workstation xw8000, you need the adapter cable with part number 381729-001. ■ For the HP Workstation xw6000, you need the adapter cable with part number 367738-001.

NOTE: On an HP Workstation xw6000, the rear speaker jack does not automatically mute when a headset,
or other speaker, is connected to the front headset port.

Systems with Audigy 2 ZS card preinstalled by
factory
If your system already has an Audigy 2 ZS card preinstalled, the system already contains a driver for basic functionality. To take full advantage of the audio card features, install the driver and applications that are on the Installation and Application CD.
NOTE: If you do not install the driver found on the Installation and Application CD or the latest driver from
the HP Support & Drivers Web site (http://www.hp.com/go/support), the rear speaker jack does not automatically mute when a headset, or other speaker, is connected to the front headset port. To install the application, skip to step 12 for software installation instructions.
Installing the card and software
To install the Audigy 2 ZS card:1. Turn off your computer and unplug the AC power cable.
2. Open the chassis and remove the rear PCI metal slot cover where you plan to install the sound card. 3. Disconnect the front audio cable from the front audio header on the system board.
If your system came with a CD audio cable that connects the optical drive to the system board, disconnect the cable from the system board end only and leave the optical drive end conneted.
NOTE: The next several steps involve connecting cables to the system board, but it might be easier to
connect the cables to the card before connecting the cables to the system board or installing the card. 4. Connect the CD audio cable from the optical drive to the CD_IN connector of the sound card. Skip this
step if your system does not have the CD audio cable.
The other end should remain connected to the optical disk drive.
5. Connect the P3 header on the adapter cable to the front audio header on the system board. 6. Connect the P1 header on the adapter cable to the J1 header on the audio card.
7. Connect the P2 header on the adapter cable to the header on the front panel audio cable. (The cable removed in step 3.)
8. Install the sound card and secure the brackets.
NOTE: The audio card can be installed in any PCI slot, but HP recommends installing the card in an
available PCI 32-bit slot.
When the sound card is installed in a 64-bit PCI slot, the entire 64-bits bus runs at 32-bits mode. This action can degrade the system performance if another 64-bit PCI device is installed on the same bus. However, if there is no 32-bit PCI bus available, use PCI-X 133 since it is an isolated 64-bit bus slot.
9. Fasten the adapter cable to the bottom of the chassis with the cable clip included in this kit. 10. Close the chassis side cover.
11. Connect the AC power, turn on the computer, and wait for the system to boot. If the new hardware found wizard comes up, click Cancel.
12. Insert the Installation and Application CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installation software starts automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver and applications for the sound card. Restart the system when prompted to do so.
NOTE: If the application does not start automatically, double-click the setup.exe file in the Installation and
Application CD.
13. After you have installed the software, refer to the “Online manual” or your speaker manufacturer documentation for instructions on how to connect the speaker to your system. To find the online manual, select Start > Programs > Creative > Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS > Documentation > Online
Manual.
NOTE: When the sound card is installed in the system, the internal chassis speaker only functions for
diagnostic beeps and does not play any other sound. The rear audio connectors on the system board are also disabled when the Audigy 2 ZS sound card is installed. Use the audio output from the Audigy 2 ZS sound card for audio connection to the external audio device.
NOTE: When using the digital out of the sound card, refer to “Digital output” to prevent Electro Magnetic
Interference.
Digital output
When using the digital output of the sound card, the audio gasket needs to be installed to prevent Electro Magnetic Interference, according to FCC Class B limits.
1. Identify the audio gasket.

2. Install the audio gasket on the audio connector.

3. Now that the audio connector is equipped with the audio gasket, plug the audio connector into the sound card.

カ ー ド および ソ フ ト ウ ェ アのイ ン ス ト ール
Audigy 2 ZS カー ド を イ ン ス ト ールする には、 以下の手順を実行 し ます。 1. コ ン ピ ュータ の電源を切 り 、 AC 電源ケーブルを抜き ます。 2. シ ャーシ を開き、 サ ウ ン ド カー ド を取 り 付け る場所にあ る リ ア PCI メ タ ル ス ロ ッ ト カバー を取 り 外 し ます。 3. シ ス テ ム ボー ド の フ ロ ン ト オーデ ィ オ ヘ ッ ダか ら フ ロ ン ト オーデ ィ オ ケーブルを取 り 外 し ます。 CD オーデ ィ オ ケーブルでオプテ ィ カル ド ラ イ ブ と シ ス テ ム ボー ド を接続 し てい る場合は、 シ ス テ ム ボー ド に接続 し てい る側のケーブルのみを取 り 外 し 、 オプテ ィ カル ド ラ イ ブに接 続 し てい る 方はその ま ま接続 し てお き ます。 注記: 次のい く つかの手順では、 シ ス テム ボー ド へケーブルを接続する操作を行いますが、 シ ス テム ボー ド へのケーブル接続やカー ド 取 り 付けの前に、 カー ド にケーブルを接続 し てお く と よ いで し ょ う 。 4. オプテ ィ カル ド ラ イ ブに接続 し てい る CD オーデ ィ オ ケーブルをサ ウ ン ド カー ド の CD_IN コ ネ ク タ に接続 し ます。 シ ス テ ムにCD オーデ ィ オ ケーブルが搭載 さ れていない場合は、 こ の手順を ス キ ッ プ し て く だ さ い。 も う 片方はオプテ ィ カル ド ラ イ ブに接続 し た ま ま に し ます。 5. アダプ タ ケーブルの P3 ヘ ッ ダ を シ ス テ ム ボー ド の フ ロ ン ト オーデ ィ オ ヘ ッ ダに接続 し ま す。 6. アダプ タ ケーブルの P1 ヘ ッ ダ をオーデ ィ オ カー ド の J1 ヘ ッ ダに接続 し ます。7. アダプ タ ケーブルの P2 ヘ ッ ダ を フ ロ ン ト パネル オーデ ィ オ ケーブルのヘ ッ ダに接続 し ま す （手順3 で取 り 外 し たケーブル）。 8. サ ウ ン ド カー ド を取 り 付けて、 ブ ラ ケ ッ ト を固定 し ます。 注記: オーデ ィ オ カー ド は任意の PCI ス ロ ッ ト に取 り 付け る こ と がで き ますが、 PCI 32 ビ ッ ト ス ロ ッ ト が 利用で き る 場合は、 こ の ス ロ ッ ト に取 り 付け る こ と をおすすめ し ます。 サ ウ ン ド カー ド を 64 ビ ッ ト PCI ス ロ ッ ト に取 り 付け る と 、 すべての 64 ビ ッ ト バス が 32 ビ ッ ト モー ド で 動作 し ます。 こ の と き 、 同 じ バ ス に64 ビ ッ ト の PCI デバ イ ス が実装 さ れてい る と 、 シ ス テ ムのパフ ォーマ ン ス が低下 し ます。 も し32 ビ ッ ト PCI バス を利用で き ない場合は、 隔離 さ れた 64 ビ ッ ト バス ス ロ ッ ト で あ るPCI-X 133 を使用 し て く だ さ い。 9. 付属のケーブル ク リ ッ プを使用 し て、 アダプ タ ケーブルを シ ャーシの底面に固定 し ます。 10. シ ャーシのサ イ ド カバーを閉 じ ます。 11. AC 電源を接続 し 、 コ ン ピ ュー タ の電源を入れ、 シ ス テ ムが起動する のを待ち ます。 [ 新 し い ハー ド ウ ェ ア] ウ ィ ザー ド が起動 し た場合は、 [Cancel] を ク リ ッ ク し ます。
12. 『Installation and Application CD』 を CD-ROM ド ラ イ ブに挿入 し ます。 イ ン ス ト ール ソ フ ト
ウ ェ アが自動的に起動 し ます。 画面の指示に従い、 サ ウ ン ド カー ド の ド ラ イ バ と アプ リ ケー
シ ョ ン を イ ン ス ト ール し ます。 シ ス テ ム を再起動す る よ う メ ッ セージが表示 さ れた ら 、 再起 動を行い ます。
注記: アプ リ ケーシ ョ ンが自動的に開始し ない場合は、 『Installation and Application CD』 にあ るsetup.exe
フ ァ イ ルを ダブル ク リ ッ ク し ます。
13. シ ス テ ムに ス ピーカーを接続する方法については、 ソ フ ト ウ ェ ア を イ ン ス ト ール し た後、 「オ ン ラ イ ン マニ ュ アル」 ま たはス ピーカーの製造元の ド キ ュ メ ン ト を参照 し て く だ さ い。 [Start]、 [Programs]、 [Creative]、 [Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS]、 [Documentation]、 [ オン ラ イ ン マニ ュ アル ] の順に ク リ ッ ク する と 、 オン ラ イ ン マニ ュ アルを参照で き ます。 注記: サウ ン ド カー ド がシ ス テムに イ ン ス ト ール さ れる と 、 内部のシ ャーシ ス ピーカーは診断ビープ音用 と し てのみ機能 し 、 その他の音は出 し ません。Audigy 2 ZS サ ウ ン ド カー ド が取 り 付け ら れてい る場合は、 シ ス テ ム ボー ド の リ ア オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ も 無効にな り ます。 外部オーデ ィ オ装置 と オーデ ィ オ接続する には、Audigy 2 ZS サ ウ ン ド カー ド か ら オーデ ィ オ出力 し て く だ さ い。 注記: サウ ン ド カー ド のデジ タル出力を使用する場合は、 電磁干渉を防ぐ ために 「デジ タル出力」 を参照 し て く だ さ い。
デジ タ ル出力
サ ウ ン ド カー ド のデジ タ ル出力を使用する場合、 FCC Class B の制限に よ り 、 電磁干渉を防ぐ た め、 オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト を取 り 付け る必要があ り ます。 1. オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト を確認 し ます。 オーデ ィ オ ガスケ ッ ト 2. オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト をオーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ に取 り 付け ます。 オーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ に取 り 付け られたオーデ ィ オ ガスケ ッ ト （ス ピー カ ーの実際のオーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ は写真 と 異な る場合があ り ます）3. オーデ ィ オ ガ ス ケ ッ ト が取 り 付け ら れたオーデ ィ オ コ ネ ク タ を、 サ ウ ン ド カー ド に接続 し ます。
