Preface

This is the second edition of the Saimoe Yearbook dealing with tournaments that (almost) ended in 2015. Compared to 2014 three saimoe tournaments were missing in 2015: Anime Saimoe Tournament, Baidu Nova Moe (held again in 2016) and The Great Awwnime Bracket (turned biennial and will be held in 2016). On the other side three saimoe tournaments were included in the yearbook for the first time: Bilibili Moe, Miss Anime Tournament (second edition of this tournament, first edition was held in 2013) and Ore no Saimoe. Therefore this yearbook comprises twelve saimoe tournaments again. Chinese, English, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish were the main languages of these twelve tournaments.

The biggest difference to the 2014 yearbook is treatment of the male tournaments. In the 2014 yearbook they were mentioned with only one page per tournament in the appendix. In this yearbook a section for male tournaments is added and these tournaments are presented in the same way as the saimoe tournaments. Furthermore three new male

tournaments were added: Best Guy Contest, Bilibili Moe – Male Tournament, and Hongkong Golden Saimoe – Male Tournament.

Other additions are the coverage of all 2015 matches of the Unofficial World Saimoe Championship and a chapter for additional artwork, that didn't fit in the main section. Also the style has changed a bit: the tables have dotted borders and the yearbook was written using LibreOffice Writer and not Microsoft Word.

A saimoe results database was created in August 2015 and it has facilitated the work. The characters and series register was edited with help of the database. At the moment the database includes the data of three saimoe tournaments and their corresponding male tournaments: Animefans Saimoe Tournament, Best Girl Contest and International Saimoe League. In 2016 more saimoe (and male) tournaments may be added to database and at the end of the process the saimoe results database might replace the Saimoe Yearbook.

For the prepatory work for the 2016 Saimoe Yearbook I'll try to cover the tournaments at two different places: the General Saimoe ISML subforum and the Weekly Saimoe Updates at my saimoestats blog.

As this yearbook (and even this preface) may contain many errors. So you will find orthographical and grammatical errors, misspelt and mistaken characters and series, and wrong vote numbers and dates. Don’t hesitate and report these errors either in the comments on https://saimoestats.wordpress.com/2016/02/25/saimoe-yearbook-2015/ or in the thread

Last but not least I want to thank all the users from ISML forum who informed me about tournaments I haven't knowledge on, covered tournaments in the forum, sent me tournament data, created artwork and/or even hosted tournaments. Among them are Açougueiro, akumaxx, Martinawa Hatsuhi, Momento10 and TYxTxYT.

2016 has already started and the 2016 Best Guy Contest is currently in progress. This year will see some changes in saimoe tournaments again. I'll try to continue working on the Saimoe Yearbook 2016. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy this yearbook,

Explanation

The main section of this yearbook is called “2015 Saimoe Tournaments” and comprises twelve saimoe tournaments with one information page and one to five results pages. The following section, “2015 Male Tournaments“ deals with six male tournaments, also with one information page and one or two result pages.

Structure of the information page (for both saimoe and male tournaments):

Established: Year of establishment

Links for 2015 tournament: Some hyperlinks to the forum of the tournament, the voting page or complete results for

further investigation.

Character eligibility: Pre-conditions on character nomination or participation. Voter restriction: Pre-conditions on voting (optional).

Special rules: Bonus votes, etc. (optional).

Main tournament date: Period between first matchday of main tournament (after preliminary rounds) and last voting

day of final match.

Match time: Start time and end time of the matches (and time zone).

Tournament format: Short description of every round of the tournament. Nomination and preliminary rounds are

written in italics. Additional information are given in parentheses ( ), divergent number of participants in brackets [ ].

Previous champions: Chronological list of all past champions of this tournament.

An image of the champion is placed below those information. Whenever possible I used an official champion poster or a picture of the champion that was used as an avatar during the tournament. Otherwise I used an unofficial champion poster or character pictures from other tournaments or images from Danbooru.

The results pages include all matches starting from round of 32 with the exception of Hongkong Golden Saimoe (female and male tournament), which didn’t use a round of 32 format. The results page of that tournament starts with round of 48. I have also included the final tables of Regular Season of International Saimoe League (all divisions), because each final table summarizes 630 round robin matches. On the other side the result page of Senpuu Saigar Tournament starts with round of 24, since the round of 72 data wouldn't fit on one page.

The matches are sorted in chronological order. All advancing characters are highlighted in orange color. However, winners of 3rd place matches or other consolation matches are not marked.

The appendix starts with a list of champions of some retired tournaments. This list also includes two tournaments not held in 2015, but (planned to be) held in 2016: Baidu Nova Moe and The Great Awwnime Bracket. The other sections of the appendix are a list of all matches of the Unofficial World Saimoe Championship, some miscellaneous saimoe statistics (without male tournaments), some additional artwork and a register of series and characters, which appeared on the results pages of the 2015 tournaments. In general have followed the naming conditions of International Saimoe League for characters and series.
