Introducing Mr. Yong-min Park
Mr. Yong-min Park is the Counselor to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Japan. He also served in the Korean missions to the United Nations, Oman, the USA, and Indonesia.
Present for audience “Please Look After Mom”
Please Look After Mom (Hangul: 엄마를 부탁해) is a novel by a South Korean author Kyung-sook Shin. It sold a million copies within 10 months of release in 2009 in South Korea, is critically acclaimed internationally and won the 2011 Man Asian Literary Prize. The novel has been adapted as a stage play and musical.
Although Korea and Japan are the closest neighbors in the region, the mutual understanding between the people of the two countries has been superficial. Mr. Park had begun to work in Tokyo since 2010 for the first time in his career, and has discovered that the neighbors are the best mirror to rediscover oneself. He would like to share with the audience his recent discoveries on the differences of Korean and Japanese culture. Mr. Park has published two books on movies and two books on travel.
