Checking out Books & AV Materials

Student card is the library card.

College Students: 30 volumes, 4 weeks Graduate Students:50 volumes, 8 weeks

AV Materials （ Home edition ）： 3 items ^， 7 days

If a book with a hold is checked out, its loan period will be shor tened to 2 weeks.

If a dvd with a hold is checked out, its loan period will be short ened to 4 days.



Returning Books

You may return the borrowed books to any NCCU branch librar y near you. (Except AV materials)

Holding the materials

You may hold books or AV materials in circulation or in proces s online. When the item with a hold has been returned to the l ibrary, the library will send an e-mail notice to you and rese rve the book for up to 7 days and the AV material for up to 3 days for you.

Every reader can make holds at most ten items at the same time .

_Renewal

The checked-out book can be renewed online by the reader himse lf for at most 2 times when is not reserved by other readers.

However, AV materials can not be renewed on line.

You may renew the checked-out book during the second half of t he loan period. The new due date shall be calculated from the date of the extension.

Overdue Fines

Books ： Each book shall be charged NT$5 per overdue day. The grace peri od for overdue books is three days. A late penalty charge shall be impo sed on the fourth day starting at NT$20.

AV Materials ：No grace period

AV Materials(public broadcasting ed.) ： Each item shall be charged NT$ 5 per overdu e hour.

AV materials(Home ed.) ： Each item shall be charged NT$ 50 per overdue day.

Please pay attention to the due day when checking out the item. Email n otice is a courtesy service. Failure to receive such notice will not b e considered grounds for reduction or cancellation of fines.

Lost Checked-out Items

If borrowed items are lost, please proceed to the library immediately t o carry out the compensation procedures. Compensation shall be made bef ore the due date. In addition, any late penalty charges must be paid.

Inter-library Card Service

You may apply for an inter-library card of other cooperative uni versity libraries at the Circulation Desk in the main library wi th your student ID, faculty or staff ID, to check out books at o ther university libraries.

The inter-library card should be returned in 3 days.

You may check out books from those cooperative universities for up to 5 books with no renewal.

Loan Period: 2-4 weeks, depending on the rule of each university library.

You may return the checked-out books from NTU library, NTNU libr ary, Chinese Culture University and TamKang University to NCCU L ibrary.

Nationwide Document Delivery Service

The NCCU faculty and students may apply for inter-library photocopying or loan service f rom local or overseas libraries, and submit the application online via the

National Document Delivery Service (NDDS). The Reference Service Section will notify th e applicant via email to pay for and collect the materials after the materials have arriv ed at the library.

Photocopy: NT$3-8 per page. Book loan: NT$5 0-100 per copy.

Information Searching Classes - The class is available for 5 persons or above by makin g an appointment 1 week in advance. After th e 2-hour class, attendees will know how to f ind journal articles, books, and dissertatio ns through the library’s website and some s elected databases. They also learn how to ge t materials through the Interlibrary Loan Se rvice.
